Patriots defensive end Ty Warren, one of the most solid, underrated players in the game, could be lost for the season with a hip injury, according to ESPN’s Mike Reiss. Warren has a labral tear (similar to what Yankee Alex Rodriguez had a while back). It is not career-threatening, but if surgery is required, Warren would be shelved for 2010.

If Warren, one of the premier run-defenders in the game, goes down, the Patriots would likely turn to another Warren: Gerard. The former Brown/Bronco/Raider is not experienced in a 3-4 scheme, but he has been challenging veteran Mike Wright for playing time all offseason.

On Tuesday, defensive line coach Pepper Johnson talked to Reiss about Warren’s value to the Patriots. "The things that he does for the people around him and us, it goes unspoken," Johnson said. "He is a strong character in the locker room. He is a strong character in our meetings. He's a stand-up guy. He's a guy that if he misses a play, or if he blows a play out there on the field, he stands up and says 'that was me and that's not going to happen again.' You can't have enough of those type of guys out on the field."

UPDATE: The Patriots have put Warren on Injured Reserve, ending his 2010 season. They have also reinstated end/outside linebacker Derrick Burgess, which means the veteran is not retiring after all.

UPDATE II: Warren explained his decision to Tom Curran of CSNNE.com: "It was something that I wanted to get done -- that I needed to get done. I've been laboring around for about a year-and-a-half. The season's too long to be taking shots all year, to feel OK one week and feel bad the next. To have arthritis and not be able to be me. I'm going to sacrifice one year for the next couple."

"Winning Superbowls is far from easy. Joe Montana played 16 seasons, won 4 Superbowls."

...and he did it without an illegal video archive of all the opponenets defensive signals - so it was like REALLY hard.

Here's only religious twist that applies to this article - Karma's a B!TCH Mr. Bellicheck. Every since you got caught cheating it's been all downhill since. 18-1*, Brady and his poor little knee, White Boy Wes Welker, Moss going from a reverting back to his lazy ways, and now Ty Warren's hip.-
Wow.  "White Boy Wes Welker???!!!"  What a racist jackass you've turned out to be.  Judging from your insane bigotry, I'm guessing you're some idiotic little punk in his parents basememt.  Don't let your dad catch you talking like that, or you're in for a beating, tough guy.

Go play in traffic, you dink.  No one wants you here.

I guess, if you want to call New England's 37-11 "regular season record" in the last 3 seasons downhill. How many NFL teams have that kind of winning percentage in their last 3 seasons? Winning Superbowls is far from easy. Joe Montana played 16 seasons, won 4 Superbowls. 12 seasons he never won a Superbowl. That should tell you know matter how great he was, winning the Superbowl was not an easy task.

There are some distinctions we need to draw. Firstly, building a mosque doesnt require tax revenues whereas a Stadium, which depends on tax revenues, does. Secondly, given that the mosque is privatly owned, the financier has a right to build any house of worship viz-a-viz the 1st amendment. Thirdly, I didn't want to address your ridiculous suggestion that the financiers of the mosque are "terrorists" but since your sentiment is widely shared I thought it would be appropriate to undercut any argument going in the direciton you're headed. Not only are the financers NOT terrorists but are American citizens; of course, unless you've done some investigative tour de force work I highly doubt you're in the position to label anyone a "terrorist." For the sake of sanity let's keep the sports related issues here and dispense with the rank-and-file nosnense spouted elsewhere in cyberspace.

It appears ignorance has no bounds. Allah is simply another name for God. Muslims, Jews and Christians are all people of the book. Each of the religions have their own interpretation of the book, but in the end their is only one GOD. By the way when the Jewish people invaded Cannan, slaughtered men, women and children were they terroist? Or how about the unlimited number of Crusades by the Christians throughout the Middle Ages. There is blood on all our hands and trying to condem one religion over another leads to more blood shed. Only by repenting and professing that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Saviour can you see salvation.

Agreed.  Very well stated, but remember your audience; New Yorkers.  If they're not winning, they're dumping, so your very best efforts were probably wasted until I got here.

Go Pats.

It's hard to say what's worse, assheads who find delight in player injuries or racist jerkoffs who think all Muslims are terrorists.

Please locate each other and fight it out to the death.

FYI Bigots-- there already IS a mosque about a block away from ground zero which exists before 9/11.  Please put down the Fox "news" crack pipe.
