Torry Holt done for the season

So much for Torry Holt being the No. 3 wide receiver in New England this year. The Patriots have placed the 11-year veteran on Injured Reserve.

Holt had gone from possibly the No. 3 receiver to a man fighting for the No. 6 job. He has been battling a knee.

This marks the end of the season for the 34-year-old, and possibly the end of a Hall of Fame-worthy career.

Torry Holt done for the season

Warner, Faulk, and Bruce will get in.  Pace should get in, but it will be tough for Holt.  The thing that is special about Bruce and Holt is they are true professionals, and very special human beings. That's one cool thing about the great Ram teams - they were pretty much idiot-free.  Of course, this hurts their standing among some fans, because many fans gravitate toward idiots like Terrel Owens and Ocho Cinco.  Like the one poster who thought Bruce didn't desert HOF recognition based on one Super Bowl.  He clearly had no idea the amazing career stats Ike has because Ike didn't make a fool of himself every Sunday.

MinnyFan, that is a very good point.  As much as I want to pull for Rams players that could be on the HOF bubble, Carter belongs in there before Holt.  He has slightly more yards (he did play a couple years more), but far more TDs (130 vs 74).  I really can't stand Carter and his "I was a bad apple turned good and now I'm here to tell everyone my story" spewing, but he does belong in the HOF, and before Torry Holt.

If Cris Carter's not in, Holt has no chance.

Torry Holt done for the season

As a Rams fan, I do hope like hell that Warner, Faulk, Bruce, Holt, and Pace all get in.  Of those, I think Faulk is a mortal lock, and I hope Warner as well.  As someone else mentioned, I think Bruce will get in but it may take a little time.  Art Monk retired among the leaders at WR but took forever to get in.  As much as I like Holt and think he was a great player, I wouldn't hold my breath on him.  It could happen, but I think it's anything but a lock.  I think Pace's chances are better than Holt's.  Howvever, to the person that said Pace was best at his position for 10 years, I don't think that's how the voters see it.  While he was great, I always get the impression from the national media guys that everyone thinks Walter Jones was slightly better and maybe Jonathan Ogden as well in that time frame.  To the guy who suggested that London Fletcher is getting in as well. I'm sorry my friend but to quote the great Lloyd Bridges, you picked a bad day to quit sniffing glue.  Fletcher has had a very solid playing career and was an important part of the Ram's success earlier in the decade, but he didn't even make a Pro Bowl until last year.  I do think the guy is completely unappreciated, but that has a lot to do with why he will never even get a whiff of the HOF.

Lol, I can't believe another IDOT saying he shouldn't get in? Who cares if he put some extra yards in his old age. I would bet that in his prime for like an 8 year stretch there is only 2 or 3 receivers in history that can match, Rice, Moss, Harrison are probably the only 3.

Torry Holt done for the season

Sad news. Tory always played with heart and gave 110%. I wish him well and he will be in Canton soon enough.

Amen brutha.  The Pats drool, and will continue to do so until they get a better coach.  I hope he can give it one more go...on another team that is.  Ha!  If not, he WILL be compared to Rice on that glorious day!

Great great player. Too bad some bad teams and injuries derailed the end of his career. As good as he was, he's not quite HoF material, especially since Faulk, Pace, Bruce, Warner all get in. Warner is definitely 1st ballot, Bruce will go on his 2nd or 3rd try. Pace was the best LT in football for 10 years.

Torry should sign with the Rams for 1 day next year so he can retire a Ram like Isaac.

Zaber, you should probably look at the stats next time you feel like spewing garbage. I would tell you why they are HoF Locks but guys before me have already provided that. I bet though that you're a pessimistic moron. The kind of guy that goes to many different articles just to give a negative point of view. I bet if we look at your past posts we will rarely ever see a positive post. But then again, you're a Giants fan from Dallas. SMH!!!
