Could the biggest holdout story of the year, that of Darrelle Revis remaining absent from Jets' training camp, be coming to an end? If you believe one side of the reports, then yes. CBSSports.com's Pete Prisco just sent this tweet : "Revis close to deal, according to reports. Shocking? Players don't miss game checks. How many times can I say it?"

Tim Cowlishaw of the Dallas Morning News has been saying all week that Revis and the Jets will have an agreement by, roughly, Wednesday night.

Tuesday, Dan Graziano FanHouse jumped in the fray :
It's been a weird couple of days trying to make sense of the Darrelle Revis contract negotiations with the Jets, but one source close to the situation told FanHouse on Tuesday that the star cornerback's long-awaited contract extension with the team is "almost there" and could be finalized and announced in the coming days. We'll keep you posted...

UPDATE: ESPN's John Clayton and Chris Mortensen are both refuting the story that a meeting between Revis' people and the Jets is taking place Tuesday night.

All you Jets haters refuse to admit one thing:  from top to bottom, the Jets have more talent than any team in the AFC East...and you know it.

Except QB and coaching which are two of the more important places talent-wise on a team.  Jets are last in the AFC East in both of those category's.  You have a good defense though.

What people do not realize is that revis knows that with the new contract negotiations there may be a cap on garanteed money or even a salary cap in future contracts. so he decided to renogotiate his contract so that he woyld be ok if that happens. He is not only a great player he is also smart to realize that and set himself up for the future.. I support him on the decision, as everyone knows once you are no longer useful management will dump you. And while you are useful they will make as much as they can from you.. so get what you can. Revis I am with you man! take all.

Totally agree. I'm in the other camp. The Jets are running a business and should not feel beholden to some guy who's already under contract. Plus he wants to be the highest paid CB in the league (ego trip). First off, that high water mark that was established is bullshat. Secondly, this guy sat out originally because he wanted a longer deal than what the Jets offered. Now again with the attitude. Be a team player, strap it on, and play. Jets were rumored to have offered him $120M and he turned it down. I guess the 17% unemployment rate and that people are struggling doesn't matter. He wants $160M. Good riddance. Be somebody's problem.
