Could the biggest holdout story of the year, that of Darrelle Revis remaining absent from Jets' training camp, be coming to an end? If you believe one side of the reports, then yes. CBSSports.com's Pete Prisco just sent this tweet : "Revis close to deal, according to reports. Shocking? Players don't miss game checks. How many times can I say it?"

Tim Cowlishaw of the Dallas Morning News has been saying all week that Revis and the Jets will have an agreement by, roughly, Wednesday night.

Tuesday, Dan Graziano FanHouse jumped in the fray :
It's been a weird couple of days trying to make sense of the Darrelle Revis contract negotiations with the Jets, but one source close to the situation told FanHouse on Tuesday that the star cornerback's long-awaited contract extension with the team is "almost there" and could be finalized and announced in the coming days. We'll keep you posted...

UPDATE: ESPN's John Clayton and Chris Mortensen are both refuting the story that a meeting between Revis' people and the Jets is taking place Tuesday night.

Rumor has it Revis, Jets nearing an agreement

As a Ravens fan, I wouldn't mind if Revis missed week 1, but I do prefer to see the best athletes on the field.

There's a report on Rotoworld that says Revis wants $162M for 10 years and the Jets won't go any higher than $122.

So I don't know if Prisco is any more right about this "Players don't miss game checks. How many times can I say it?" stuff than he was last year saying "Oh Lordy, he's 40!" about Brett Favre and bitterly predicting he'd fall apart.  But for Rex Ryan's sake, I hope Pete's right here - the Jets are going to have competion from New England and Miami in their own division and need all the help they can get!

Did the Jets win the AFC East last year?  NO!!!!!!!!  The Patriots did again. Drink the kool-aid while you can because all teams have to do is spread your defense out and attack the seams.  that's why we drafted 2 te's to do just that.  Revis can't cover everybody plus all the smack that the Jets talk is just that talk.  If you are so good why do you have to say anything.  You are not scaring anybody only giving teams a reason to kick your butt.  You're acting like Joe Nameth is at qb.  I bet Sanchez catches hell this year for Rex running his mouth and week 2 watch what we do to you.

Yeah, we'll be waiting with baited breath...I thought the negotiations were supposed to be closed, with no media attention. Either someone from the Jets camp or Darrelle Revis' attorney leaked something. I hate rumors...if you're going to stay quiet about the negotiations, then why do we always hear about an unnamed source, or this guy said this or that. I respect Tim Cowlishaw, but with John Clayton and Chris Mortenson denying the story, it makes you wonder.

Good luck to the Jets...hope you sign him. I hope this isn't another Brett Favre like soap opera with the Vikings.

Are your stable of WR's better than Edwards, Holmes and Cotchery?  No.

Hilarious !! Another deluded Jets fan going giddy and instead looking like a stand-up comic !!!!

Ever heard of Randy Moss and Wes Welker ??? Plus, with the rookie class of WRs the Pats have(Price, Tate) and Julian Edelman, the Pats are head and shoulders above that sad trio the Jets have ! I can't believe you would seriously post that !!

At least you got one thing right: Talent on paper doesn't necessarily mean success on the gridiron. Jets fans are so starved for a winner that they already have them winning everything and the season is still three weeks away ! LOL

That's the difference between Jets fans and everyone else. Other NFL fans wait until their team has actually won a championship before bragging on them !!

Jets are loaded - simply have to execute

All you Jets haters refuse to admit one thing:  from top to bottom, the Jets have more talent than any team in the AFC East...and you know it. Whether that translates into victories and a Superbowl party remains to be seen.  They have pro bowl talent on defense and one of the best defensive coaches in the league, and they have pro bowl talent on offense.  What's great is that they have pro bowlers at the most important positions:  the point of attack on offense and defense.

Yell all you want about hating the Jets.  That's fine.  But to say that your favorite AFC East team looks better, on paper, than the Jets, is just you looking through rose colored glasses.  The media is talking about the Jets for a reason: they're loaded on both sides of the ball and got better personnel wise on the #1 defense in the league.

Talent means nothing if they don't execute, but all signs indicate that they can and will.  At the end of the day, the cream always rises to the top (barring injuries), and the bottom line is that no team in the AFC east has as much talent on both sides of the ball and the coaching to go with it as the Jets.  Say what you want, but you know deep down in your heart that it's true.  Brady, Moss, Welker...not much else.  Rickey, Ronnie and Cabrillo, not much else.  CJ Spiller in Buffalo and some fast wideouts, nothing else.

Are your stable of WR's better than Edwards, Holmes and Cotchery?  No.  Tight end better than Keller?  No.  QB?  Brady yes, Miami, debatable, Buffalo, NO.  Is your O line better than the Jets'?  HECK no.  Your RB's?  Miami maybe, NE and Bills, NO.  Your front defensive 7?  No.  Your secondary?  No.

Discuss among yourselves.....

while I am NOT a jets fan, GO PATRIOTS, a good shutdown corner is worth the money if he produces year after year, remember Deion Sanders. and I admit Revis hasn't been around that long he has increased his int's each year which is hard to do when the opposition knows how well you can cover their best receiver.
