It’s rarely a good thing when a player who has lost a battle for a starting position isn’t informed of the coach’s decision until the media who have been informed of the coach’s decision asks said player about … um … said decision.

Such was the case today when Green Bay coach Mike McCarthy declared that Daryn Colledge (that's his mug shot on the right) had won the starting LG job over first-round pick Bryan Bulaga for the season-opener against the Eagles.

The Green Bay Press Gazette has the story.

After he was told he would not be a starter, Bulaga said, “This is the first I know about it, so we’ll see. I’m sure they have a plan and we’ll just take it day by day. … He won the job, Coach made a decision. That’s what it is. Obviously I’m disappointed I’m not the guy, but been nicked up a little bit. That’s just the way it goes.”

I do love Colledge’s response, though.

“Awesome, I didn’t know I wasn’t the starter originally,” said Colledge.

Bulaga won't start after all

It was more then expectedd for Daryn Colledge and the rest of the players from last year to be the starters.

Bryan Bulaga was expected to be a backup/learning his position this year..

Guess a few people expcted him to move to "somewhere else" and take over someones spot not named Mark Tauscher or Chad Clifton..  But the thing about that is they also admitted "But Jason Spitz shows a lot of promise if not only because he has played a lot of roles", and even though Bulaga probably could play it "Scot Wells is the center in this talented offense" type stuff..

When you get to that point where everyone has grown into their roles even with last year.  Although Allen Barbre is almost certain to play his last game for the Packers this monday, if he wasn't cut already..

T.J. Lang was the reason for a lot of those sacks early on in the year though.  He would get beat 4-5 times in a single game.  Sure he evened out as the year went by, but it's hard to forget the defensive players just plowing over him during those games, heh..

Interesting to see how it will all shape up I suppose, even if the competition is on the defensive side mainly.

“Awesome, I didn’t know I wasn’t the starter originally,” said ColledgeThis guy became my favorite player in the league with this comment.  Looking at his picture and looking at this comment he just seems to be a regular guy that loves playing the game.  I hope to hear nothing more about him aside from the fact he made the Pro-Bowl.
