Redskins alterior motive sending Kelly to IR?

Redskins third-year wideout Malcolm Kelly has been placed on Injured Reserve. The sad part is, this means the disappointing second-round pick could be in line for a career-year (it’s hard to run the wrong route or fail to get off a cornerback’s jam when you’re not even on the field).

The fact that it was a hamstring injury that prompted Washington to shelve Kelly for the season tells you everything the team thinks about the young receiver. Yes, Kelly has battled hamstring problems before. But if it’s not Ken Griffey Jr. we’re talking about, then how is a hamstring a season-ender?

Kelly’s hamstring was a problem all offseason (he injured it during one of Donovan McNabb’s “Hell Week” workouts in June). DeAngelo Hall said on ESPN 980 that the team misdiagnosed Kelly’s injury in the first place.

"They thought it was one thing, he ended up finally getting a second opinion three weeks later, and we find out it was something a heck of a lot worse than they ever thought it was," Hall told ESPN 980 earlier this month. "So we're here babying Malcolm, saying, 'He's a baby, he's a baby, get out there and play,' when he has a Grade 2 strain. And they're around here saying it's a Grade 1 and there ain't nothing wrong with him."

Kelly’s agent wouldn’t comment on Hall’s comments. Kelly had the hamstring re-examined August 19. But suppose what Hall is saying is true. That could explain why the Redskins put Kelly on IR rather than released him. If the Redskins were to release Kelly while he is recovering from an injury the team misdiagnosed, you can bet there’d either be a fairly expensive injury settlement.

Seriously, I can help copy edit your site, or at least help proofread it.

I get the attempt at the play on words -- anterior/alterior -- but in this case it doesn't work. Anterior means toward the front, and the hamstring is located behind the knee.

Get in touch with me, my rates are reasonable.

"Alterior", huh? Wow. I knew CBS had low standards, but now they allow their "professionals" to just make up words. Great job, all around!

Kelly couldn't go to PUP because he practiced the first day of training camp. If he didn't practice he could have been placed on PUP. That's why they put him on IR.

I think you are badly in need of an editor. "Alterior" is not a word. Even if you used the correct word, the title of this post doesn't make any sense. Are you implying that the Redskins had an ulterior motive for moving Kelly to IR based on a comment made by the ever-reliable DeAngelo Hall?

They should've just put him on the PUP, not the IR.
