Remember how we posted last night that former Seahawks WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh – he of the $7 million guarantee – likely would end up in Oakland or in Washington. Well, we were close. He’s going to Baltimore.

Adam Schefter of ESPN.com , who’s been on quite a tear the past couple days, is reporting Houshmandzadeh and the Ravens have reached agreement on a one-year deal that will pay him $855,000 (the Seahawks have to pay him the rest of his guaranteed money).

In an interesting twist, Houshmandzadeh will be on the field when New York Jets CB Darrelle Revis takes his first game action of the 2010 season Sept. 13. Anquan Boldin is Baltimore’s top WR, but Houshmandzadeh should fit in fine with reliable WR Derrick Mason and TE Todd Heap. I imagine Houshmandzadeh will take a good chunk of Mark Clayton’s work in those three-receiver packages.

This isn’t the fastest or the youngest WR corps in the NFL, but the Ravens front office has given QB Joe Flacco some pretty good weapons. Houshmandzadeh will add his specialty into the mix, making tough catches across the middle and grabbing receptions that give his team first downs.

UPDATE (1:02 P.M.): According to Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post , Clayton is on the trading block now. If the Ravens can't trade him, the plan is to release him.

UPDATE (1:25 p.m.): USA Today caught up with Houshmandzadeh, and the WR said LB Ray Lewis recruited him to the team to help the Ravens win the Super Bowl.

"Ray said, 'If you want to win, this is the place to be,''' Houshmandzadeh told the paper. "The way he is on the field is how he is off the field. Passionate. Our conversation was passionate and insightful.

"I know from competing againt those guys when I was in Cincinnati how it is in Baltimore.''

UPDATE (3:19 p.m.): Chris Mortensen of ESPN.com is reporting the Ravens have traded Clayton to the Rams for late-round draft pick considerations. St. Louis needs some help at WR, and now, the Rams have it.

Houshmandzadeh signs with Ravens

You're right Sleek, I did forget Garcon. Although I am not a moron, I can be forgetful sometimes, especially when the Colts have so many good players that it's difficult to remember all of them. And as for being a Colts fan AND a Lakers fan...well, obviously my city of LA doesn't have a football team anymore, so it is a no-brainer to root for the best and classiest quarterback in the league in Payton Manning. I too am a classy person and will not resort to name-calling such as "moron".  And lastly, I don't believe that all the players I mentioned are unstoppable individually ie Bullet, Gonzales, Brown, but as a team I believe the Colts are unstoppable.

For that price tag, any team that didn't pick him up was stupid but the Ravens. Can't believe teams like the Redskins, Raiders, Rams, Brown, even the damn stupid Cowboys didn't pick Housh. He was release not because he was a bad player but because the Seahawks love to lose and somehow felt Hasselsucks is worth them keeping for god knows for how many more seasons. For that price tag, Housh is a steal.

The Panthers missed another good free agent WR, does John Fox want to lose?

Apenguins, Housh is not going to start over Mason. I'm not even sure Housh will be playing much over Clayton. I really only see Housh playing on third downs in big reciever sets, and they run him over the middle. They might also bring him in while in the redzone, but he is certainly not starting. It's not an insignificant move, but it's not going to make a huge difference. There is no reason "Ravens fans" are proclaiming a super bowl over this move, but there is also no reason people should be bashing it. He will be the third or fourth reciever option for a team that is going to run the ball alot and has a steady group of tight ends.

Tj will surely help, though I would not agree with the Ravens now being stacked at WR. Mason is ancient and TJ was released for a reason in seattle.  We will just have to see how the season plays out.

Debzlakers, ummmmm you left Garcon off the list. Wouldn't really be suprised if you're just a moron(seeing as you are somehow a Lakers and Colts fan, how does that work????)....but not including the starting wr next to Reggie Wayne on you list of "unstoppables" is a pretty big admission. Especially when you consider he was Peyton's favorite target in the post season, but you're right the great Anthony Gonzalez and Melvin Bullet are more deserving to be on your "unstoppable list". P.S.- Donald Brown is one of the worst running backs I have ever watched, he is truely terrible. No chance in hell he is ever considered unstoppable.

I like a Colts fan saying unstoppable!  How about 10 years of Manning & company and just 1 championship.  At least I will give New England credit for getting 3 while they were at the top.

That's a great sign.  If Flacco can't succeed this year with Boldin and T.J. as 1 and 2, then Flacco is not an NFL quarterback.  As a Steeler fan, I'm not liking to see this move at all.
