Chris Mortensen of ESPN is reporting that the Washington Redskins are having talks with the Tennessee Titans about a trade for Albert Haynesworth. This is not the first time these two teams have discussed the disgruntled defensive tackle.A. Haynesworth

Haynesworth’s relationship with the Redskins, and especially Mike Shanahan, has been strained, to say the least. Their epic power struggle remains ongoing. Shanahan had Haynesworth play virtually the entire fourth preseason game. This past week, there were rumors that Haynesworth would still be deactivated for Week 1.

At the moment, there is no deal in place between Haynesworth’s former team and current team. But stay with the story. Even if no trade pans out, in the very least, we could get another round of “I don’t care, I hate this organization anyway” type quotes from Mr. Haynesworth.

If I'm a DT and got paid a 100 million I would line up at CB if the coach tells me to. Fat Albert can go back to Tennessee wouldn't hurt our feelings.

WonderHawks, that was absolutely great. Cool

Albert Haynesworthless was never productive until he was playing for a contract when the Titans put the Franchise tag on him.  Then the Titans tagged him again and he played hard for a new contract.  I knew once he got that contract he would go back to his natural lazy attitude.

I remember when I posted this about Fat Albert when he signed the ridiculous contract and I took so much flack from Redskins fans.  Well I told you.

Yeah.  The reason the Titans let him go is b/c some idiot owner overpayed for him.  The Redskins are a terribly mis-managed team that has made one wrong move after another ever since their owner took over.  Haynesworth had his issue in TN with his temper and with his ability to stay on the field but nothing compared to what is going on in Washington.  I am pretty sure that the Titans would love to have him back as long as the $$ makes sense.  If Dan ever learns this the Redskins might eventually become relevant again.

Allow me to take this a step further, every contract, in every sport be incentive based. Each player gets a set amount based on seniority say 150k for rookie and 500k for 5+ years of service then every contract is based on what you do each and every season. have a set list of standards that each player has and also have levels for team achievement. your a great player on a bad team you still control your money, your a good player on a good team, ditto. Your a bad player on a great team, you still make money. But if your mediocre on a bad team, your not getting paid much. works for every sport in every situation. The only person who controls how much money the player can make is the player, and his team mates.

Oh, that will do wonders for parity in sports...

What's billed as a team sport would degenerate into a weekly pissing contest for stats. Can you imagine how some of today's receivers would react from game to game?

How is Shanahan being a bitch? He is punishing Haynesworth for failing the mandatory conditioning test, missing practices, and running his mouth about the organization. He is the highest paid defensive lineman in the league...he should be setting examples in work ethic and team leadership but instead is whining about having to work for his money and the consequences of his actions. If Shanahan hopes to control his team and make sure that everyone is giving 100% on and off the field he can't let Haynesworth get away with being a slacker and he isn't, good for Shananhan, he's always been one of the best coaches in the league.
