Vincent Jackson to the Vikings?

Anyone who saw the Season Opener Thursday night knows the Vikings need help at wide receiver. Bernard Berrian is clearly a No. 2 option; Percy Harvin, at this point, is clearly a No. 3. Yet, with Sidney Rice out, Berrian and Harvin are masquerading as the No. 1 and 2 receivers.
V. Jackson (US Presswire)
Friday, Henry Lake of KFAN tweeted that help could be on the way for Minnesota. Lake’s sources are saying the Vikings could make a play for disgruntled Chargers wideout Vincent Jackson. The team has not yet confirmed or denied Lake’s report.
Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reports that an unnamed team worked out a one-year deal with Jackson last Saturday, but that a trade with the Chargers could not be worked out. Saturday, Florio wrote, “Though all concerned persons and entities are keeping quiet on this one, we've done some digging and we believe that Lake is right -- and that the Vikings are the team that nearly traded for Jackson last week.”

Jackson is scheduled for a hearing in New York in five days to determine whether he will miss three games or six games if he’s trade from the Chargers. The NFL has suspended him three games for his multiple DUI arrests; the Chargers suspended him an additional three games for his holdout. The hearing will decide if the Chargers’ three-game suspension must hold up in the event that a trade occurs. If the suspension does hold up, that could compromise a potential trade (and, ostensibly, make A.J. Smith wonder if he was wise to take the hardball to that level).

Vincent Jackson to the Vikings?

HAHA thanks for this post.  I love it when "the self appointed grammer police" think things are "truely funny".

That would be "grammar" and "truly" good sir.

FANTASTIC!  Irony is so sweet.  LOL.

Vincent Jackson to the Vikings?

Viking fans - Chargers are not trading V-Jax to MN unless its for at least #1 - the Chargers know that V-Jax has to come back to them by game 7 in order to get credit for the 2010 NFL season.  Therefore the Chargers don't have to trade Jackson.  If they really were finished with him they would have traded him by the Sept 4th deadline.

AJ Smith, Charger GM, knows that when he comes back V-Jax will be there to help the Chargers in the playoffs.  That is why the Bolts only kept 4 wide outs on the 53-man roster.

Now a #1 pick could change AJs mind - but I doubt it.

As for Favre - a real coach and owner would never have gotten involved with him.  How many balls does he have to heave into the defense in big games until someone realizes he's done.  MN should have invested their time in getting a vet or really good back up to play in Childress' system.  Peterson disappeared in the the 2nd half on Thursday - MN can win with Peterson and a decent QB.

Vincent Jackson to the Vikings?

People seem to forget easily. How many consecutive games is it? Not worried about favre. It is quite clear the vikings are in need of another wideout. Thats why they had so many in camp. Jackson? isn't he suspended anyway when he comes back? Rice will be back in week 9. Vikings hopefully will be 4-4 or better. Stay with what you got and hand the ball off 30 times to 28.

San Diego send V-Jax to join S-Jax

San Diego, at this point, don't really want to help a team so that they get it thrown in their face.  With that, contenders or "name-brand" teams might be unappealling.  So, I say V-Jax to the Rams, where a veteran receiver is greatly needed.  The potential that Bradford showed in the preseason is enough to justify a signing of that caliber.

The Vikings might want to think about who's going to throw to V-Jax when Favre's ankle ends his good performances.

Vincent Jackson to the Vikings?

Vincent Jax is another spare that had one decent yr crying for more money.....whatever. He will get paid by some desperate team (Vikes) and then get hurt or have a typical "post-paid" season.... dont waste the trade, money, many DUI's?

Vincent Jackson to the Vikings?

Are you serious?  You think that the Vikings would have had a better chance of winning it all last year WITHOUT Favre?  He may be egotistical, but I don't think having a less egotistical QB would have given them a better chance.  Name 3 quarterbacks who were on the market last year that would give them a better chance. (Yes this means you can't pick Drew Peyton or Tom)

Vincent Jackson to the Vikings?

I'd say the Vikes need a 6'5" physical beast of a receiver whether Rice returns or not.
Favre clearly can still get the job done if he gets protection and guys get open.
Vikings losing by 5 on the road to a good team has more upside than any reason for panic.
I see them winning their division and going deep into the playoffs again.

Vincent Jackson to the Vikings?

The Vikings don't need the Chargers Vincent Jackson?  The hell they don't.  Without WR Sidney Rice Brett Favre needs Vincent Jackson BAD or no super bowl run.  And the Chargers won't reach the super bowl either with no Jackson!
