NFL investigating Jets' 'frat-boy' locker room

Over the weekend at Jets practice, there was some noise made about a potentially awkward situation whereby Jets players and coaches were, for lack of a better word, harassing a female reporter from TV Azteca.

Bart Hubbuch of the New York Post mentioned it a couple of times on Twitter, and Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk was informed by sources that the Jets were -- with said TV reporter present -- "acting like frat boys."

Apparently, the reporter went into the locker room and was essentially treated to cat calls (or something close to it) and was "embarrassed, to the point of being close to tears."

Clearly, the NFL wouldn't be thrilled with this behavior, and sure enough, they're investigating it, as NFL spokesman Greg Aiello confirmed to CBSSports.com that "the Jets and our office began looking into it as soon as we learned of it last night."

If the Jets did indeed behave as was reported, you can expect Roger Goodell to take this matter pretty seriously. He's stood by reasonably quietly while the Jets, ahem, swagger has let them become one of the most talked about teams in the NFL.

When it comes to something that could border on sexual harassment, though, you can bet the NFL won't sit idly by.

The people that condone this and are making a joke of it are not men, but boys like the entire jets team. How can you condone cat calling or harassment of any kind? Disgusting is what you all are. Would you do that to your own mom? daughter? You'd be irate if a room full of guys were cat calling your daughter for doing her job and yet your acting like it's all good to do so .... Pathetic people ...

I was just mentioning the other day, that the Jets demise will come with the way their coach carries himself.  He is cocky and brash and since being coach of the Jets has had one incident after another.  In which he has had to explain himself.  He has a talented football club, no doubt.  But sounds like they have a lot of growing up to do.  Before they will ever be champions.  Stay grounded JETS you haven't won anything yet.  At least Buddy Ryan had control of his players.  No class out of these guys.  By the way Jets the Saints are Champions, EH.

No doubt, boys will often be boys. It's a lame cliche, but it's true. But that doesn't mean they have to be classless morons. But you can chalk their attitude up to their loud mouthed coach, Rex Ryan. This clown has talked smack from day one and hasn't proven a thing. The Jets backed into a playoff spot because the Colts and Bengals laid low to rest up for the playoffs. Give the Jets their due, they played well in the playoffs and reached the AFC championship game, where they lost to the Colts. The key word is "lost." But all they've done, starting with Ryan, is talk trash during the off season and continued to do so on "Hard Knocks."
Women reporters belong in the locker room as much as any male reporter. Stop dragging your knuckles on the ground and come into the 21st century. Reporters are there to do a job, whether they have testicles or breasts.

It doesn't surprise me. The Jets coach is a boorish, loudmouth(as is his dad). All Rex Ryan has done so far is to teach Jets players how to run their mouths, make crass remarks and to not care what anyone thinks of them. So why wouldn't the juvenile behavior carry over into this area ?? Rex doesn't care about using profanity-laced tirades on TV. His players pick up on that. So now, with this issue about sexual comments directed at a female reporter, Jets players are going to continue their junior-high behavior and think nothing of it. What else can you expect ?

To those of you defending the players, I'm sure you wouldn't mind if that was your wife or girlfriend right ? Or sister maybe ?? I think you'd be ready to fight them then.

Sure, blame the woman because she is good looking...typical.

First of all, women have been in the locker rooms in the NFL for YEARS (Since 1985). I'm sure somone will eventually pull out the Patriots for having the same thing happen (look up Zeke Mowatt (1990)). But, events like this are few and far between.

Second of all, this shows the level of professionalism in that lockerroom. This is pointed directly at the coaching staff.

Let us see how the NFL handles this. Last time all the players involved got fined (One for 12.5K and 3 others for 5K), and the team got fined 50,000, and members of the staff personnel were fired (Sullivan for one). The Patriots also released Zeke Mowatt and Bob Perryman at the end of the season.

First, female reporters have had access to men's locker rooms for years.  Whether they should or not is a dead issue.  Drop it.

Second, being attractive and dressing accordingly does not provide an open invitation for boorish behavior/comments from the Jets or from you under-sexed adolescents in this forum.  Grow up and imagine that she was your sister or wife.  Is this how you would want her treated?

Third, this Jets thing is getting really old really fast.  As athletes they have proven NOTHING.  As men they have obviously proven themselves to be even less.  As adults, they have demonstrated unbelievable unprofessionalism and childishness.  I've been trying to like these guys and at some level appreciate their swagger, but they have continually crossed the line between swagger and class. Nor would winning justify it as it does so often in sports.

Real tough Jets players ganging up on a chick.  They probably went to the Ben Rothlisberger School of Dating.

checked that link...damn she is fine!

if it wasn't for the strutting of that fine a$$ she would never have gotten that job in the first place......(you know it's true)

was Tom Brady 'close to tears' when the same 'reporter' harrassed him at that news conference and propositioned him.  what a crock...but im sure the PC police at the NFL with give her a nice payoff
