Ochocinco, Owens odd behavior beginning already

The only reasonably acceptable solution to dealing with Chad Ochocinco and Terrell Owens is mediocrity. If they win too much, the celebrations will overwhelm us. And if they lose, the negative energy will engulf us.

Proof of the latter came on Sunday when Owens and Ochocinco weren't present for the Hail Mary attempt at the end of the first half. Marvin Lewis was asked where Owens was responded by saying he was "being looked at" without any more discussion.

"That's our business, OK?" he said.

Owens himself was either a) confused, b) refusing to talk, c) angry, or d) all of the above.

"Coach said he would address that," he said when asked by reporters why he wasn't on the field.

Reporters continued wondering about his whereabouts, and he continued to become more of a), b), c) and d) until he finally dismissed them. Ochocinco wasn't much more helpful, telling reporters that, "Everything I have to say, Terrell will relay for me."

Perhaps they don't think anyone's familiar with the term "triangulation," because this is a pretty classic case of it. Or maybe they're in denial.

Or maybe, just maybe, they built up expectations for their season by talking nonstop about Batman and Robin and then when they found out that they're gonna need Superman to be an elite AFC team, they just got a little upset.

topdog:  It is a TEAM game, so it takes more than 1 or 2 players to achieve anything memorable.  Saying they are underachievers because their TEAM never won anything is ridiculous.  TO is only 1 of 3 players to ever get 15,000 recieving yards.  The other 2 are Isaac Bruce and Rice, I would say that is memorable.

Rice and Bruce have championships - yes, memorable!  Thank you for proving my point.

topdog:  Bottom line is that if any other player on the field yesterday outside of Palmer, TO and Ocho, had walked of the field when they did not a single word would have been said about it.  However it was TO and Ocho that did it so there must be some kind of hidden reason as to why it happened.

Exactly!  No one notices or appreciates yardage in scrap time.  Thank you for proving my point!

NFL All Healthylaugh Team

These two remind me of singles ads posted by women trying to sell themselves. Almost invariably, they will write that they're "classy." I always have to laugh, because someone with true class would never, ever dream of telling you that they possess it.

I'm going to start the NFL All Healthylaugh Team, and the players selected have to excel on the field, play with heart, consider what's best for the team above all else, and let all of that do their talking for them.

Move over Madden!

P.S.-Guess who my first two players NOT selected will be?

Ochocinco, Owens odd behavior beginning already

I would like to reiterate what the only observant people on this board have already said: This poor performance and loss had absolutely NOTHING to do with Ochocinco or TO... NOTHING!!!

Did Ocho or TO stand there watching on special teams while Tate runs a kickoff return end zone to end zone for a score... nope.
Did Ocho or TO throw a horrible ball to Gresham that was picked off for a touchdown... nope.
Did Ocho or TO get bullied like schoolboys by the Pats' O-line while barely trying to rush the passer... nope.
Were Ocho or TO blocking (if you can even call it that) for Palmer while the pocket collapsed after 1.5 seconds... nope.
Did Ocho catch 12, count 'em, 12 balls for 159 yards and a score... yep.
Did TO catch a respectable 7 balls for 53 yards... yep.
Was the hail mary ball that was thrown at the end of the first half caught by a Bengals receiver even though Ocho and TO were already in the locker room... yep.

I am not a fan of Ochocinco or Owens by any means, but somebody please tell me how they are even the least bit responsible for the Bengals' loss?  I guarantee they weren't talking after the game because they were afraid of what they might say about the horrible play of the offensive and defensive lines.  It was truly pathetic.

I have to agree with the detractors to the author of this garbage piece.  I don't know if your real dream is to write for E Online, or your editor just told you to whip up what you could to rip on TO because he wants clicks, but next time, try to include some sports analysis in your story!

Actually there are very few players with the type of talent that could yield 25K receiving yards without achieving anything memorable on a football field.

It is a TEAM game, so it takes more than 1 or 2 players to achieve anything memorable.  Saying they are underachievers because their TEAM never won anything is ridiculous.  TO is only 1 of 3 players to ever get 15,000 recieving yards.  The other 2 are Isaac Bruce and Rice, I would say that is memorable.

Better stated, they are known more for their off-the-field antics than their 25K receiving yards.

While their off-the-field antics can be over the top, it is because of the media and ignorant stories like this one that makes them so well known.

Bottom line is that if any other player on the field yesterday outside of Palmer, TO and Ocho, had walked of the field when they did not a single word would have been said about it.  However it was TO and Ocho that did it so there must be some kind of hidden reason as to why it happened.

I'm not going to say they're causing a distraction or disrupting the locker room or anything along those lines. I'm also not going to say they're not, because no one not in the room knows one way or the other. I will say they're acting like little infants that think they have their own secret club. Terrell will relay Johnson's words? Why? Is that necessary? This is why Owens, Johnson, Moss and on down the line never win ****. Why does everything have to be turned into a little game with these two? When do they grow up and act like men? Did Palmer come out and say all his words will be relayed through Cedric Benson? These guys LOVE to throw matches and feign shock and surprise when a fire starts.

The only question I have is why is this a story at all? It's isn't. To not expect them to be eccentric would be like expecting Sam Bradford to not throw interceptions.
