Jenkins Posted by Josh Katzowitz

The Jets got some horrendous news today.

According to NFL.com’s Jason La Canfora, New York NT Kris Jenkins is out for the year with a torn ACL - his second in as many years.

For more detail on what happened last night, here's Will's take on the matter.

UPDATE (1:04 p.m.):
Rex Ryan's first reaction: "Obviously that's gonna be a huge blow for us. We're about the team. I just feel really bad for Kris. A guy that rehabbed that injury, everyday he worked at it. That's part of this business, unfortunately. Injuries happen in this league and that's one of the unfortunate things in this business."

UPDATE (1:20 p.m.): Last year, after Jenkins went down with the torn ACL, the Jets run defensive stats actually improved. Still, the loss of Jenkins is quite a big deal, especially with LB Calvin Pace already out for the season. Without Jenkins, New York loses a 6-foot-4, 360-pounder who uses great athleticism and footwork. Last year, Sione Pouha stepped into Jenkins' spot and played very well, contributing big time to a defense that led the league in run defense.

Pouha started Monday's game at DE, but Mike Devito - who excells at pass-rushing anyway - could take that DE spot and move Pouha to the NT position. Now, with back-to-back ACL tears (Jenkins played only six plays), you have to wonder if Jenkins can continue his career.

Kris Jenkins suffers torn ACL

To all the JETS haters know something.  The JETS played horribly last night against a team a lot of people are picking to be the AFC's best.  Now this, as bad as they played they still had a chance to win.  They will get better on Offense and hopefully they stop the stupid penalties; then they can be as good as advertised.

A lot of Jet haters out there.

A couple things, though.  First off, it's sad for Jenkins.  Regardless of your alliances, he worked hard to comeback and suffered a major blow to the knee he worked so hard to rehab.  As for the Jets, they improved statistically last year after Jenkins went down.  The role will be filled.  This is the NFL and every team losing a key member or two during the brutal season.

And regarding "karma" and such:  We just concluded week one.  The Chargers, Cowboys, and Colts, all predicted Super Bowl contenders, lost as well.  Shall we consider their seasons over too?  The season is long and one game is essentially that...one game.

Being a fan is one thing, but being clueless is another.  I'm afraid to say, many of you prove to be clueless in terms of football knowledge, as well as the English language.

Jets D will still be nasty and I'm hoping my patriots can find a way to put some points on the board because if they do the Jets offense is so anemic we should be able to scrape out a W.  It should be one heck of a game with two teams with a lot to prove.

Come on guys. I'm a Pats fan and I hate Rex and the Jets. But these karma comments and cheering a career-ending injury is WRONG !!! I know we caught a lot of the same flak from Jets fans among others, when Tom Brady was injured in 2008. I called them sick people and I'm calling those who are cheering Jenkins injury the same NOW ! If you truly believe it karma, you'd know that you are risking an injury to your team's key players by mentioning that. Or worse, an injury or some other calamity to yourself. Grow up people ! Jenkins just had a major crisis befall him and I for one feel for the guy.

Sure, Rex and Co. are jerks, but no one deserves to have injury happen to them. Knock it off !

Good things come in three's,as the saying goes. The Pats have lost 3 starters(Boudin,Warren and the starting safety who's name is escaping  me at the moment)I thought Pace was only going to be lost  for 4-6 wks but this article say's he's gone for the year. The injuries even the slate a little bit. Jets offense can't afford an injury since they have looked pretty lethargic but you have to cut them some slack since it is only one game and the Ravens are a top five defense.

what  did kris jenkins do to deserve such bad karma,  why because his team talks alot, are you that caught up in other peoples lives that you would be happy a player probably is gonna have to retire, a nicer guy the jets dont have.   if you think karma is a bitch you set your self up for some ugliness with that lame comment.   get a life that doesnt involve living through guys who you dont know, dont care about you, and wouldnt care if you lived or died, and im referring to your favorite teams players.
