ESPN.com is reporting the Patriots have traded RB Laurence Maroney and their sixth-round pick in 2011 to the Broncos for Denver's fourth-round pick in 2011. The Boston Globe also has reported the news.

Maroney is a former first-round draft pick who hasn't found his footing in New England because of repeated injuries during his five-year career. He's gained 2,430 yards in his career with 21 touchdowns.

Maroney, who's currently dealing with a thigh injury, was inactive for Sunday's game against the Bengals.

Maroney traded from Patriots to Broncos

Why doesn't just every team in the league decide to give a third or lower to the guy every year for questionable compensation in return?

Because Denver's management is stupid like some of their fans....if the shoe fits wear it.

At this point it seems the Broncos offensive line is better than the Patriots.

What the hell are you smoking? The offensive line of the Patriots has been around for 9 years protecting Brady, and has been the strength of that team since their first Superbowl win. Tehy are 5 deep at each position. To even compare Denvers O LIne to the Patriots shows how ignorant you are of other teams in the NFL. It may be justified to knock the Pats for their young D Line. at least last year,  but know what you are talking about before you make stupid statements. Stick to your own teams problems and try to explain their loss to Pete Caroll and the Seahawks last Sunday. Another thing, Maroney was a flop from college, but guess what so are a lot of the college so called superstars that are drafted into the NFL. They have to prove themselves away from the rah rahs and Frat parties.

How does McDaniels have a job?

Trading away cutler, marshall, drafting tebow with a first round pick, giving up picks to get tebow. What planet is this moron from? Who decided it would be a good idea to give this idiot so much control. He is a petulant child who cries louder than anyone when he doesn't get his way.

Maroney traded from Patriots to Broncos

Finally!  I think the Pats might have gotten more for him if they would have unloaded him before last season, but a draft pick is a draft pick, eh?

What the Broncos are getting is a guy with speed to burn if, and I mean "if" with all due conviction, if he can break into the open field.  He may be of more value to denver as a third down back who can catch a ball in the flat and use his dancing skills to juke DB's out of their cleats.  Plus, being put out in space to make his own moves, perhaps he won't get hit by those big linemen and break like cheap glass.

There is no denying that the man has talent.  it's just that he can't be decisive and is not very sudden through the hole when he finally does decide where he wants to go.  Once he's in the open field, he is hell on wheels.

Good luck with him, Broncos.  Perhaps McDaniels will use him properly and put him in a position to succeed.
