Okay, it's only a report technically, since the public feelings expressed by the Jets have all been pretty positive, but apparently Braylon Edwards' teammates are pretty cheesed at him.

Which is mildly understandable, obviously.

The New York Post reports that one teammate called Edwards "selfish." The paper also offered up some pretty specific quotes from an unnamed player.

"This is the last thing we need right now," one Jets player told The Post. "We have a big game against Miami this week, don't we? We should be concentrating on Miami Dolphins, not answering questions about [Edwards' arrest]. This is an unnecessary distraction."

"He's got to know better than this," the player said. "There's a program in place for this. Every player knows about it so there's no excuse for something like this to happen."

The Jets are absolutely correct to be angry at Edwards for this mess. Drunk driving isn't acceptable in the first place, but hopping into a car in a city that features more taxicabs than the population of most other urban areas and cruising around with a blood-alcohol level that's twice the legal limit when your team offers a taxi service to its players is just way beyond irresponsible.

I have no doubt that a number of his teammates have driven drunk and just weren't caught. Somewhere I seem to have heard, let he who is without sin cast the first stone. Or, maybe not.

*Don't be haters. Braylon is a respectable member of the New York Jets organization who puts team first before anything. He has set a standard for the rest of the players on the team and should have been voted a captain. He is by far the best wide receiver that has ever played the game and will likely go into the Hall of Fame before he even retires. This was not his fault and he is purely the victim of profiling. God bless you Braylon Edwards.

*Denotes sarcasm....

Jets say 'no excuse' for 'selfish' Braylon arrest

I love how the article has players calling him selfish, and angry for for distracting the team from there game this weekend.

How about being angry that the moron could of easily killed a family out there driving drunk.  For the idiot who said its not neccesarily his fault because he was drunk, and people don't think clearly when there drunk.  Really?

I mean bealive me, its not that hard.  Its a tiny little simple thing called planning.  Me, and my friends, and generally most people with a iq above 60 will either pick a dd before we go out.  Or have some sort of plan in place if we know were all gonna be drinking.  Holy crap the people actually defending this guy make me sick.

Well it's about time a team grew some footballs.  Way to go Jets, a selfish team mate goes and does something stupid and they respond to it without the "we behind him all the way", "we'll support him any way we can" .  For the average joe to do it is stupid, for this guy with all he has available to him is moronic..................

I think they feel they are above it all, laws; mores; responsibility; etc.. And if you want to be serious about it, how about secret service detail...?

I berate my friends if they drive drunk, and I am always a phone call away. All three of them are at fault, grown men dont act like that. So because he was drunk and acted irrational thats an excuse? He doesnt need you to make excuses for him, his agent does that
