Revis out Sunday against Dolphins

Darrelle Revis, the most talked about NFL player this offseason, will not play on Sunday against the Dolphins, coach Rex Ryan said on Wednesday.

"We felt that we might as well let you know now that Revis is not where he can play," Ryan said. "He's itching to get back to playing, but it's too risky a proposition to get him back out there."

Revis, dealing with an injured hamstring before the Jets played the Patriots in Week 2, re-injured himself while getting torched by Randy Moss on a Patriots touchdown.

Revis' absence didn't help the Jets against the Pats, but Antonio Cromartie's athleticism matched up well with Moss and enabled the Jets to take their division rivals down.

Whether or not Cromartie can do the same damage against Brandon Marshall -- a more physical receiver than Moss -- remains to be seen. But clearly, Revis' injury is problematic enough that the Jets are willing to rule him out for the game this early in the week and risk taking on the Dolphins without the help of their best player.

miamitom3,

I know that's the schedule. I'm not overlooking their win against Minny on the road. I've even said it's tough enough to win on the road. All I'm saying is that the Dolphins benifited from a few things. Is it their fault? No, but it still doesn't change the truth in the matter.

DOLPHINMANIA....but thats the schedule....did we tell farve to hold out of camp and come in rusty?? and we ALL know how the Jets benifited last year by playing the Colts late in the season and having them rest everyone, as Miami got Indy early on and STILL almost beat them.
Its hard to win on the road no matter what!!

You do understand that the secondary was much different last season to this season right? Manning rarely tested Revis and went to the other side which was Lito, Lowery Rhoades and Strickland (Strickland got hurt)....this year you have the more athletic Cromartie, Kyle Wilson, Drew Coleman and Smith/Pool.....the Jets secondary is much better than last season

lol Lindros upset...did cromartie have one of his kids with you?? sound like you're supporting your "baby daddy". Ease up man get off cromarties nuts, he's been exposed for two weeks in a row now; why do you think the chargers dropped im like a hot turd? After yalls week one loss, their players were still saying they were glad cromartie was gone. Yeah he has two picks, woo hoo!! he's also got thrity pass interference calls and Boldin drove the bus that took him to school. C'mon man. You know better than to cover for cromartie.

you think it was all cromartie man to man on marshall all over the field.  i doubt it and i dont care how  many passses a guy catches,  all i know is if marshall has 18 catches against the jets it means the jets are probably up 30 pts, and just playing a  deep zone.  the jet d and the charger d are not similar.  jets went into san diego and mauled the chargers last year,  cromartie is in ny now and did a pretty nice job on randy moss in the second half, and i can assure you the jets arent gonna put cromartie on an island all day,  just like the chargers didnt.  so as a football fan if you think its one players fault when a guy has a day like that your not watching the game right.
