Tiki: Coughlin's 'job is certainly in jeopardy'

Former New York Giant-turned-NBC-analyst-turned-Yah
oo!-football analyst Tiki Barber recently recorded a video at the Y! discussing his old team and how Tom Coughlin is handling things.

He doesn't think it's going well -- in fact, he believes Coughlin's control is "slipping away" and that his "job is in jeopardy."

"I don't know if he's completely lost control of his team, but it's definitely slipping away," Barber said. "Right now Tom Coughlin is at a crisis -- his job is certainly in jeopardy."

Tiki saying potentially explosive things about his old team isn't anything new; it's just a little awkward for him to be bashing the Giants shortly before he heads to New York for induction into the Giants Ring of Honor.

In other words, regardless of whether Tiki's correct about Coughlin being on the hot seat (and sure, he most certainly is if his team keeps losing and his players stop listening to him) don't be shocked if the boo birds come out when his name gets called. And be even less surprised if Coughlin uses Tiki's quotes as locker room motivation this week against the Bears.

Tiki: Coughlin's 'job is certainly in jeopardy'

Tiki need to shut his trap.  He clearly doesn't like Coughlin and the only time we ever hear from him is when his old team has trouble.  The he starts beating the "fire Couglin" drum as loud as he can.  Anyone who listens to his guy or peddles his sour grapes is part of the problem.

Tiki: Coughlin's 'job is certainly in jeopardy'

Who is Tiki Barber? Oh yeah, that bitter, over-rated running hack who was a cancer on the Giants, who won a Super Bowl only AFTER Barber left.  Nice to see a solid job of journalism by Will Brunson who got ZERO quotes from Tom Coughlin, the players or anyone associated with the Giants organization.

Total waste of space.

Tiki: Coughlin's 'job is certainly in jeopardy'

Last time I checked, Wellington Mara hired Coughlin because he was strict, because the players thought Fassel was too nice. Y' know after Jim Fassel got let go... after he was losing his team, and taking them to the Super Bowl Loss to the Ravens. Tiki was on that team. Coughlin beat the undefeated Patriots w/ out Tiki.. and the media is listening to him?! I guess Tiki should be the head coach. That way the players can quit like he did. And become the Joe Pisarcik era Giants. I'm sure the New York wants those days again.

Tiki: Coughlin's 'job is certainly in jeopardy'

This is the only way Tiki can get anyone to pay attention to him.  He left the Giants for a "sure-thing" gig with NBC.  That turned out real well.  Who even knew he was a football analyst for Yahoo! .  Who even knew or refers to Yahoo! for football analysis.  He will be booed on Sunday night and its a shame, but he has no one to blame but himself.  It is all about how you do things.  Michael Starhan has critizized the Giants since his retirement, but he has been fair and has stated his criticism in the right way, and he is still loved by Giant fans.

It's Tiki, so nothing he says surprises or impresses me.  The surprise here is that the Giants are putting him in their Ring of Honor.

Tiki: Coughlin's 'job is certainly in jeopardy'

Tiki Barber has not had a single positive comment about the New York Football Giants since his retirement. Even when he was with the team, he always made it about himself. Now, whenever he makes a statement about the team it has to be taken with a grain of salt. There's no doubt that he's bitter about the fact that he retired when he did, missing out on a Super Bowl championship. Although one has to wonder if they would have won with him on the team. Their might not have been the three-headed rushing attack of Earth, Wind, and Fire (Jacobs, Bradshaw and Ware). With all of this being said, I'd agree with the idea that Coughlin is losing this team. The undisciplied play, the coach yelling and the players and the players yelling back. This is not a cohesive unit. However, there is no way he gets fired mid-season. Because if Coughlin goes whoever steps in knows there a lame duck. Just passing time until they hire the next head coach.
