Marshall snaps back to Sterling Sharpe criticism

Sterling Sharpe and Mike Mayock took to the teevee Sunday night on NFL Network to discuss the Jets-Dolphins game and started discussing the Fins' final series. You can watch the video here , but the premise is that they gave Brandon Marshall a hard time for being "gassed" (although Sharpe kindly gave Marshall a "pass" because he's still getting used to the heat in Florida) and not looking in shape on the final series when Miami was gunning for a win.

Marshall and offensive coordinator Dan Henning clearly watched the show, because they responded to questions about it after practice on Thursday. You can see the full video of Marshall responding (compiled by the Miami Herald 's Jeff Darlington) below, but for those of you not so visually inclined ...

Marshall: "I don’t honestly think that those guys were elite players, including Sterling Sharpe," Marhsall said. "I know he’s done some good things, but from my understanding, he’s not a Hall of Fame player."

"Did they watch from the stands? Or on TV? Or from their home?" Henning asked. "And they’re going to say that he didn’t have enough left? Are you kidding me?"

Marshall snaps back to Sterling Sharpe criticism

Better than Cris Carter, figures, only a Packers fan would make such a common senseless remark.

Marshall snaps back to Sterling Sharpe criticism

So that wasn't Brandon Marshall I saw playing at the University of Central Florida when I attended from 2004 until 2009?

Jones_ucf:

Congratulations on graduating in only 6 years.    You may not have noticed, but Marshall played in Denver for the last 4 years, so Sharpe is not off base to say that Marshall my still be getting used to playing in Florida again.

Maybe you have only lived in one area your whole life (probably in a basement for that matter), but it takes time to adapt to different climates.  Marshall is going from playing in an elevation of 1 mile, cooler temperatures and lower humidity - to near sea level, higher temperatures and crazy humidity.  It is not far fetched that the month of September could be a challenge for him.

Brandon Marshall is a great player but he will probably do something stupid before to long.

Marshall snaps back to Sterling Sharpe criticism

Guess Marshall doesn't realize that Sharpe would probably be in the Hall of Fame if he hadn't broken his neck. He was just as good as Marshall, if not better (five Pro Bowls, three-time All-Pro in seven seasons), with none of the attitude and stupid criminal tendencies.

Marshall snaps back to Sterling Sharpe criticism

I really doubt that many people here advocating Marshall over Stering ever watched Sterling play. Please recall that when Sharpe was posting monster numbers he had a ridiculously inexperienced quarterback throwing to him. Marshall is good, sure. But the offenses and times are different - you can't compare stats from 20 years ago in the passing game for the most part.

Not to doubt your statement but really has Marshall had an experienced QB??? Im a fin fan and Henne is still far away from being called experienced and Cutler and Orton are not experienced either IMO. Players play and the way Marshall has improved every one of his QB's its hard not to tell this guy is a game changer

Glad the Miami Dolphins have him.
Me, me, me...That's what he's all about...Look at my stats, look at what I've done...B-Marsh, you haven't done SH*T.  Winning is a team effort and you're all about the money and the stats.  I hope you NEVER win a Super Bowl...

Marshall snaps back to Sterling Sharpe criticism

sounds to me like marshall is just butt hurt over constructive critisism. It's not like they said he is any awful player, these guys know marshall is miami's best wide reciever. all what they are saying is that when the game is on the line, there should be more of an effort to run your route for a winning touchdown. take it or leave it marshall, but don't feel like you were being attacked over a few little comments to correct your play.

and FYI marshall, Sterling would be a great guy to look at on film, you probably should take the time and do it. learn a thing or two about elite wide recievers in the past.
