Reuben Frank of the Burlington County Times reports that the Eagles have contacted the Bills about the status of running back Marshawn Lynch. This indicates that the outlook for LeSean McCoy and his fractured rib might be bleaker than hoped.
M. Lynch (US Presswire)
Lynch has been the No. 1 runner in the Bills’ crowded backfield this season, though many believe the team is simply showcasing the fourth-year pro in an effort to increase his trade value. (Such a tactic is common in baseball but not common in the short-seasoned, win-now-at-all-costs NFL.)

Despite being Buffalo’s top runner, Lynch has just 37 carries for 164 yards on the season. He lost a fumble Sunday in the disaster against the Jets and finished the day with only eight yards on four carries. Lynch, a first-round pick out of Cal, rushed for over 1,000 yards in each of his first two seasons as a pro.

It’s possible the Eagles could be looking at Lynch as a backup to McCoy. Former Saint Mike Bell has been essentially a non-factor in that role so far. And the team has not found a replacement for injured Leonard Weaver, who used to be the primary ballcarrier in two tight end sets.

Lynch, unlike all of Philly’s current running backs not named LeSean McCoy, has the versatile receiving prowess that the screen pass-loving Eagles covet.

Slaton needs to be traded he is being wasted as a 3rd option in Houston. If the Eagles want a short yardage back they need to give it to Oooooo schmitt that guy is nuts

lynch is not as  good as people think, in many ways he reminds me of the older edgerin james, savy falls forward when hit, slides behind his blockers well, but lacks the explosive quickness to accelerate when he finally hits the  hole. as a packer fan i can tell you i dont really think he will be the answer for them , but he is a signiificant  upgrade.

Brandon jackson is  god awful, lacks speed vision and size,   Kuhn on the other hand actually hits the hole with pop and sees it well,  but is so totally lacking of speed that even the defenders he scoots past can catch him from behind in a reltively short time.  he ran for 39 yards on 9 carries late against the  lions but any other back would have taken at least 2 of those carries to the house.

nah the guy i want the pack to trade for is steve slayton who is languishing  in Houston. this guy has no chance to do anything in houston and you would think houston would be happy to let him  go

in the packer offense he could be a star, he has always been a  wide receiver playing  running back and with aaron rodgers he could be a awesome.

of course  teddy will never make that kind of trade because that would be an admission that  Brandon Jackson is  total bust of a 2nd round  pick.  still maybe just maybe he will see the light

Trading for Marshawn Lynch would be an incredibly stupid move for the Eagles if they pay the high price the Bills front office is rumored to be demanding.  Actually, even if they pay next to nothing for him, it's still a foolish pickup on the Eagles part.

Andy Reid and Marty Mornhinweg still insist on trying to pass the ball 65% of the time and only run it 35% of the time.  Even Brian Westbrook found it difficult to gain rushing yards in this offense.  If the plan is to bring in a guy to replace or supplement LaSean McCoy, that runner better be ready to release out of the backfield and expect passes coming his way.  Lynch can catch the ball but I think this is a waste of his abilities.  I think he's still a quality runner and needs to get somewhere where the team knows what to do with him behind the offensive line.  Philly's offense is a waste of any true running back.

Eagles are to cheap tp give the Bills a 3rd round pick.  If I were the Bills I would wait for 2 picks (3 + 5) or a 2nd rounder.   Eagles think they are the smartest team in the NFL.
