Lions QB Shaun Hill – who had performed pretty well while replacing Matthew Stafford – is out for the day after breaking a bone in his left arm in the second quarter against the Giants.
Before he left the game, Hill was 9 of 15 for 91 yards and a touchdown. Drew Stanton replaced him, immediately scrambling for nine tough yards before converting a fourth and one with a play-action pass.
But he also fumbled the ball later, and the Giants began to pull away. Stanton, though, came back with an 87-yard TD pass to Calvin Johnson to make it 21-17 early in the fourth quarter.
It’s worth noting that if Stanton has to leave because of an injury, the emergency third quarterback is Stafford.
