Wade's job safe, but Jerry is 'very disappointed'

Despite the fact that the Cowboys are 1-4 for the first time since 2001, Jerry Jones says there will not be a coaching change this season.

Jones told reporters following Dallas' loss that Wade Phillips job was safe from termination.

"I would never consider [firing a coach] during the season," Jones said.

However, Jones did say he was "not [optimistic]" and that he was "very disappointed."

The combination of Jerry's feeling and Dallas' record means that Phillips is about as lame-duck as you get six weeks into the season -- it's hard to imagine that Jones wouldn't make some sort of change barring a totally unexpected run to the Super Bowl.

Jimmy Johnson (before he strate the ExTenze deal) was the last real coach the Cowboys had. Yes Switzer one another SB, but it was with Johnson's team and there was a steep decline right after that. Johnson could stand up to Jerry Jones's ego. Jones cannot stand that, so he has hired a succession of yes men since then from Switzer through Wade. The Vowboys will n ot reach the top again unless/until Jones can subjugtae his Texas-sized ego to the good of the team and hire someone with balls and leave him to do his job.

Wade's job safe, but Jerry is 'very disappointed'

One thing that many may not have noticed, but Dallas just lost this game in the exact same way that they lost last week. They were doomed by Romo's mistakes, breakdown of special teams coverage AND most importantly the continual crappy play of CB Mike Jenkins. It's really hard to believe this guy was a first round draft pick. He is almost solely responsible for losing three, maybe four games this year. What makes me even more angry is how he looks for other people to blame when he makes a mistake, or gets burned. I can't believe we let Anthony Henry go to let this bum start. Until Dallas gets another CB to play opposite Newman, you may as well expect blown coverage and late game mistakes. Jerry, get another CB! Anyone would be an upgrade here!

It all starts at the top, Jerry Jones wants to run the team through Wade, this is where the problem is. Mr. Jones must let his coaching staff do the coaching and he needs to step back and let them do his job. I think Wade will be gone after this season, but any good coach will not take this team unless they can run it their way, and Mr. Jones does not like this. He must step back and hire an accomplished coach like Bill Cowher and let him run the show, then you can have a winning product on the field.

I just don't understand why Wade is still here, the last two teams were he coached didn't do will either. The Boys have all the weapons that a team needs. Jerry needs to go and talk to Jimmy Johnson, let him run the team the way he wants. Stay in the owners box and play arm chair quarterback from there. Wade this cost this team and all the Cowboys fans a great injustice. This is a winning team and organization not a bunch of loses. Four years of this, when is the pain going to STOP!! Enough with the mistakes.this team should be playing like a team that has been possessed. Wade is not getting the job done and Jerry is not helping at all. Let them that stadium be empty on gameday, he might get the hint! One last thing, it would of been a real treat to see the Boys in their stadium hosting the Super Bowl. Thanks Jerry for not making that happening!
