Earlier this season we eagerly covered the “junk-grabbing” accusations Browns center Alex Mack and 49ers offensive tackle Anthony Davis made against Chiefs defensive end Shaun Smith. It’s only fair that pass along this from Bob Gretz, our CBSSports Chiefs rapid reporter:
DL Shaun Smith on his successful appeal of his NFL fine: “I’m happy; it’s been a cloud hanging over my head since Week 3. But through the process the bashing of my name, you know, I have kids and they looked at it and heard it. I’m just glad it’s over.”
So Smith, in the eyes of the league, was found innocent of any wrongdoing, saving his good name and $10,000.
It’d be interesting to see what Mack and Davis think of this. You have to assume they didn’t go public with their accusations for no reason.
