Well, here's an interesting twist to the Jenn Sterger saga -- the former Jets' hostess, who's lawyer earlier said they were 'strongly considering' a discussion with the league, might be willing to avoid chatting with the NFL if she and Brett Favre reach a settlement, according to a report.

The Pioneer Press, which has been on top of any news relating to what "Team Sterger" (read: her lawyer and manager) might want to release, has learned that Sterger "would decline the league's interview request if she and the Vikings quarterback reach a financial settlement."

Insofar as I can tell, this doesn't mean that Favre has offered to settle anything in the matter (although he certainly could have, I suppose), but the report does have the specific mention of a "confidentiality agreement" which would keep Sterger from talking with the NFL about the matter.

Thus, the theory would run that the league, unable to pursue the matter any further or establish any reasonable proof that Favre sent the alleged texts, would close the case and everyone would move on.

Favre wouldn't be guilty of anything, since a settlement, even in an actual legal matter, doesn't indicate guilt, per se. (Although, yes, if he pays Sterger not to talk to the NFL, the court of public opinion will convict him on all counts, but that might have already happened at this point anyway.)

And Sterger would be $X(X?) million dollars richer. It's an "everybody wins" situation in all counts, except for poor Deanna Favre, and by consequence, her husband, at least when it comes to his home life.

Of course, Favre has to agree to this reported settlement agreement, which, yes, was conveniently reported just hours after Sterger's attorney mentioned the strong consideration they were giving an NFL interview. So it could just be a timely bit of public leveraging from Sterger's camp. And, if that's the case, well, well played.

Cumdumpster pretty much sums it up. I'm not a Favre fan, but anyone who can't see she was doing this for a paycheck and to further her own career (get another Playboy spread), needs to go see the optometrist.

Does a bear shit in the woods? This cumdumpster has probably set up the split of the settlement with the dork at Deadspin after she tries to blow him to get out of sharing. Bret needs to give Rick Pitino a call.

beautifully said Ham.  Well orchestrated legal blackmail.  After Tiger's situation, she laid in wait for the right moment to strike with this garbage from years past.  Who cares?  If your famous,  keep Mr. Happy in the cage,  otherwise it's a brave new world of technological blackmail.  Why do we waist our time with this frivolity (like I am doing now!)

Sterger probably slept with Favre on a number of occasions... saves all the text messages and then extorts. She's a cheerleader, not a genius, but now she looks more like a prostitute than anything.

If she tried to get money two years ago, it would be called blackmail. When lawyers leak evidence to the NFL, it gives them term change to settlement.

Would Jenn Sterger hush up for settlement money?

Hmm, would Jenn Sterger settle for $$$$, has anyone tried googling her since this story broke? She's a walking price tag, I remember seeing pictures of her for advertisements when I was in college and she was at Florida State, then I saw her a few more times in other situations, always scantily clad, always playing the part of sexu ditz sand wondered how someone could be so proud of presenting a fake body and clearly well defined attitude at what seems like any and every opportunity. It would be nice if woman (and some men for that matter) like this weren't hired because of their assets, I wonder how many times she's actually sought out because she does such a good job of making herself look like a semen receptacle.

She's obviously not a flirt, she keeps things professional as evidenced by her strong work experience. Regardless of Brett Favre's role in all of this, it would be pretty easy to draw the conclusion that she is not absolved all guilt in this either, she's just looking for her next paycheck, and if you 've seen how she's done that the last decade or so, it's just a bigger payday for the same stupid crap. Although I would be more than surprised if she didn't have some help with this one, make that a lot of help.
