Favre has two fractures in ankle

Brad Childress told the media that Brett Favre has two fractures in his left ankle. He is in a walking boot, but the head coach won’t rule him out for Sunday against the Patriots. The injury is an evulsion fracture and stress fracture.

"Brett is in an ankle boot this morning and had an MRI," Childress told reporters. "Neither [of the fractures are] surgical, but once he's functional, he can play.

As you know, he's had ankle and heel problems for a long time, so that walking boot makes him a little more comfortable, and I wouldn't rule anything out for the end of the week -- don't really have a timeframe on it."

Favre, of course, had his ankle operated on during the offseason. He either injured it or re-injured in the second half against the Packers Sunday night. Favre will NOT need surgery for this injury, though he is questionable for Week 8.

If Favre does not play Sunday, his all-time consecutive start streak would end at 291.

It’s worth noting that Childress nearly benched Favre for performance issues Sunday night, which, as discussed here, would have been ridiculous.

Favre has two fractures in ankle

After next week and going 2-5 the last wheel falls off the bus and Moss quits trying.  Poopinga sucks and Neal wasn't playing much so no major hurt for the Packers.  Getting guys back and a bye week coming up.  On a positve not VI-QUEENS, your better than Dallas by a little.  You can also enjoy Brent on the sideline with his moose knuckle pants on.

Favre has two fractures in ankle

Favre's QB Rating is 68.0. That's 30th out of 32 starters in the NFL. That's sorry. He should be riding the pine. It's time for Minnesota to move forward with their future QB, even if they have to draft one next season.

Favre has two fractures in ankle

For those of you saying he fakes injuries or that he was "jumping for joy" after the Harvin catch, if you actually watched the replay of him celebrating, you could tell the man was in pain. As someone who has hurt their ankle and tried playing on it, I could tell something was really wrong with Favre last night at the end.
Vikings fans know that our best chance to win is with Favre at QB. All Jackson has proven before is he can hand the ball off, and if it is a good game running the ball we win, if he is forced to pass we lose. Last night I am really only mad at Favre for the INT that went for a TD. The other two were not his fault. One one Harvin stopped his pattern and the Safety made a great pick, and the other he got hit forcing the ball to go a different spot than he was trying to throw it.
Vikings fans also know the real problem with this team is coaching. Childress is responsible for only having a 17-14 lead at half. He should have challenged the catch in the back of the endzone, as well as trying for more points at the end of the half. The refs also blew the Shiancoe TD catch IMO, but I understand the call. Plus what was the idea of rolling Favre out on the last two plays? Everyone could see he could barely move.  The Vikings have had a tough schedule so far, and it only gets easier after the Patriots game. If they can somehow pull out a Victory there, then this season is salvagable. The only good thing about benching Favre would be the high draft pick we would end up with after a losing season.
