Favre says if he plays, wants to play whole game

Brett Favre and Brad Childress addressed the media and, naturally, it was streaming live in Times Square (kidding, of course -- in fact, it was nice to get a break from the recaps of the Heat/Celtics game, guh). The news conferences never actually steered towards any alleged sexting, which was interesting, but that's only because Favre's ankle is banged up and his heel is "broken."

"Basically a broken heel bone, is what it is," Favre said. "I've been assured that yeah, it's broken, but there's not a risk of further injury."

Favre also talked about his consecutive games streak and how amazed he was/is by it, but that it wouldn't be the determining factor in whether he plays Sunday or not. (Note: this is also "alleged.")

"All I can say is 'wow' -- I kind of lost count a long time ago," Favre said about his streak. "I'm very proud of the streak but it probably should have ended a long time ago …

The only reason I would want to play -- I don't wan to go out there for one play, I don't want to go out there for three plays. If I'm able to play, I want to play the whole game and give us the best chance to win."

It appears that No. 4 never actually visited Dr. James Andrews, as reported yesterday, since Chilly said he stayed on site.

"He was here all day yesterday -- our doctors shared with their doctors and you can do a lot of things over the computer," Childress said.

And that's probably how Favre knows the extent of his injury.

"I know the bone will continue to be broke for quite a while," Favre said.

Interestingly, Favre mentioned -- without being prompted -- the possibility that he could limp off into the midday sun now that he's suffered an injury which could theoretically keep him out for an extended time, and pointed out that he wasn't walking out that door just yet.

"This could easily be an injury where I say I'm going to slip under the radar -- an easy out," "and people may think that. But I want to play. And I want to help this team win. I owe that to the guys and to myself."

So, to sum up, Favre is going to honorably hang around and continue to wreck Brad Childress' life and Tavaris Jackson's confidence. Good times!

Who is this idiot Will Brinson?  Is this another CBS example of unbiased reporting? To set the record straight, it was Chilly who begged Favre to play this season.  He wanted to stay home and take this season off and was basically guilted into coming back this year by his best friends on the Vikings.  At least report the facts Brinson!

" honorably hang around and continue to wreck Brad Childress' life and Tavaris Jackson's confidence"

Tavaris doesn't need help with that, his performance as a starter does enough. So stop with the 'poor Tavaris' nonsense.
