For the third time this season, the San Diego Chargers have had to announce that their next home game will be blacked out. Over 8,000 tickets remain for Sunday afternoon’s Chargers-Titans matchup.

In a press release, the Chargers reminded everyone that “the League’s long-standing policy requires all games not sold out 72 hours prior to kickoff to be blacked out in the local market.  This includes all signals within a 75-mile radius of the stadium and those areas whose television signal reaches within that 75-mile zone. The league’s policy affects all telecasts, including cable and satellite.”

In related news, the Lions-Redskins game in Detroit will also be blacked out.

I'm from San Diego (GO KC CHIEFS) so I can speak first-hand on why the chargers keep having black-outs.  And let me start by saying, the standings may not show it, but the chargers DO HAVE A GOOD TEAM..............just a BAD coach!!!

Beautiful women on warm, sandy beaches.  Weather in the 70's and HUNDREDS of things to do in and around the city ALL THE TIME, and the economy........

THESE ARE THE REASONS WHY THE chargers HAVE BLACKOUTS!  NOBODY wants to pay the prices the NFL/chargers expect you to pay for a ticket!!  ESPECIALLY with the way the NFL is turning into a FLAG FOOTBALL LEAGUE!!!

And as far as the chargers moving to LA, NOT HAPPENING!!  The major problem with the chargers staying in San Diego was the Chula Vista power plant, and its designation as a critical use facility.  THAT DESIGNATION HAS RECENTLY BEEN LIFTED!!!  The chargers will be STAYING in San Diego County, just moving (in the next couple of yers)closer to the coast in Chula Vista.

GO CHIEFS!!!!

San Diego is notorious for having fair weather fans.  The only problem is that the weather there is always fair.  The problem isn't because of the stadium quality as the local San Diego media would stipulate.  After getting beaten by the Raiders and then the Patriots, the Chargers with all their talent, lack a real coach.  I think the attendance will fix itself after you can Norv and bring in a real coach who knows how to run a TEAM and not just an offense.
Who would want to go watch a team who gets destroyed on Special Teams?

Detroit is understandable...the economy still is in the crapper...and truly bad in that area of the nation....

San Diego? Who know's? Used to be business would come in and by the remaining tickets to lift the blackouts on a fairly regular basis in a lot of markets... maybe it's tough times in San Diego too...

This is supposed to be a competitive team, and yet... blackouts. Are the fans boycotting the ownership or AJ Smith or something? This is really startling to me, I would have expected their fan support to be much higher. I guess this is what happens when you are cheap and you refuse to pay your best players. I am sure there are 31 teams in the NFL that would never let Vincent Jackson hold out, or force Drew Brees out, or let the best player in franchise history go when he still has several good years left.
