The Buccaneers – aka “the best team in the NFC” – have waived veteran Keydrick Vincent. This move comes as a surprise, given that the 10th-year pro started the first five games this season at left guard.
Vincent sat out last week’s game against the Rams with a back injury. Rookie Ted Larsen, filled in then and will likely do the same for the next few weeks. Once starting center Jeff Faine returns from a quad injury, though, third-year pro Jeremy Zuttah should move back to his natural guard position, relegating Larsen to the bench.
Zuttah offers a Bucs offensive line has struggled in run-blocking this season more mobility but less power than Vincent.
Tampa Bay’s front five faces an uphill battle this Sunday, as starting right tackle Jeremy Trueblood is likely out with a toe injury. The Bucs have activated offensive tackle Will Barker, who will likely back up either James Lee or Derek Hardman (neither of whom is battle-tested).
