D. Brees
Kenny Wilkerson of WIST-AM radio is reporting that the New Orleans Saints are hiding a significant injury to Drew Brees. Wilkerson says Brees has a fracture and torn meniscus in his left knee.

Brees suffered what was described as a mild knee sprain early in the season. He’s been wearing a brace but has not missed any action.

Wilkerson says his source is “impeccable” and that his report is “100 thousand-trillion-million percent” accurate. He even went so far as to suggest that Brees will need Microfracture surgery after the season. (Though this has to be considered mere speculation at this point.)

Brees has been a tad inconsistent at times this season (he leads the league with 11 interceptions), though no one has suggested that he looks like his knee is bothering him. With this rumor now swirling, you can expect that will change.

UPDATE 3:00 pm ET:
Props to our Saints Rapid Reporter Larry Holder for passing this along:

Coach Sean Payton called the report of Drew Brees having a fracture and torn meniscus in his left knee "inaccurate." "It's not right," Payton said. "Completely. False. This week, he's without the brace, sleeve or anything." A league source also said Brees laughed when he heard the report.

Report: Brees has fracture, torn meniscus in knee

did goatsense really just lump brees in with chargers quarterbacks?  lmao, the best thing that ever happened to brees was getting away from that sorry excuse for a GM AJ smith, he told A.J. he would be sorry for letting him go, lump in the chargers pathetic run game with the resurrgence of tomlinson in New york, and id say your G.M. should just quit while he is ahead since he obviously doesnt know talent when he sees it, i hope a.j. enjoys his regular season superstar philip rivers, and his 3rd place standing in the afc west, cuz i got a real good feeling the chargers and their fabulous general manager will be sitting home watching L.T. enjoy his 1st real shot at a super bowl

Focusing on the toughness of the man, instead of being classless, and trying to end his career would be the correct thing to do.  I can't believe people on here.  He's an ex-Charger.  The grit and "toughness" of San Diego quarterbacks are well documented.

Report: Brees has fracture, torn meniscus in knee

So what if Drew Brees has a torn meniscus.  The question would be the extent of the tear, whether is can be damaged further by play and impact to the kneee and whether surgery can be dlayed.  He is playing so obvioulsy that is not the question although limited mobilitiy and speed could be affected based on which knee, the location of the tear and the severity of the tear.  I ran long distance races with a torn meniscus with moderate pain but very limited impact on performance.  When the season was over I had my surgery and rehab and was back at full strength in 4 weeks.

The microfracture of the knee is another question.  If it is Sam Bowie of Greg Oden types of microfractures there is a problem.  If the microfractures were related to a hit and less severe medical professionals will provide the advise as to wther surgery can wait or if further damage can occur.  The key with this article is it is vague and with inside reports the degree of an injury is speculative at best.  Roll the tape and see if his performance has been affected?  One might argue the slow start by the Saints could be attributed by placing additional pressure on Brees with blitz packages resulting in interceptions which occured in the Cleveland Browns game.  The jury is still out on this injury and in the mean time I do not thing Brees would jeopardize his career if surgery was warranted and he was risking further injury and his career.

Undoubtedly the Saints have two choices.  Remain silent or have a team spokesman or team physician comment on the Brees injury.  No one will place any credence in what a team spokesman would have to say.  The team physician is not even dredible.  I would hope Brees has been to see James Andrews in Birmingham which is an hour away by plane.  That is probably what transpired and the best source of reliable information.
