It doesn't necessarily excuse Channing Crowder for losing his mind after Sunday's game at Baltimore, but for what it's worth, it appears the Dolphins linebacker wasn't lying when he said Ravens fullback Le'Ron McClain spit in his face. Take a look at this (and thank you to Jeff Darlington of the Miami Herald for passing this along):

It will be interesting to see how the NFL disciplines McClain for this.

Punk move by a punk player that is on a team that is led by a punk in R. Lewis.

Typical of a  Raven's punk player.

Never spit in another man's face . Never.

And if you do, you best be man enough to receive the beating of your life that you so rightfully deserve.

You are wrong.  You don't spit and run.  Don't be blinded by your team. Believe me Mclain is a waste and his teammate would be just as offended as Crowder (who is also a waste). But you can't advocate spittling on person.

Oops, I said Jets....meant to say Ravens.  You couldn't even handle the Kyle Boller Ravens, on your home turf.  Be careful what you wish for, Dolfan.  These fish don't swim.

Agreed that this was a cowardly move.  To state that you "hope" to meet the Ravens again in the playoffs?  Tell you what, you have to MAKE the playoffs to do that, and this Miami team is a mediocre assemblage that will definitely finish behind both the Jets and the Pats in their own division, and then behind the Ravens, Steelers, Chargers, Chiefs....should I go on, or is that enough?  Besides, I seem to remember the Jets completely dismantling Miami in the playoffs.....twice......in Miami.  Miami is not for real, and they could NEVER man up against a team like the Ravens, Steelers, or Jets.  Never.  Fish?  Yeah, right.  Dream on.

The comparison of walking through a backfield and walking through your neighbor's yard is a poor analogy.  You have legal rights to handle this if you're threatened.  The football field is NOT your domain (despite UnderArmor's slogan) and you don't have the right to assault anyone.  To do so, you'll incur the consequence which should happen here.  Fine him.

Again, I think it would definitely be considered crossing the line if it happened, but he wasn't just trash talking.  He deliberately walked through the ravens backfield after all the initial talk he instigated.  Why would you do that if you aren't looking for trouble?  The idea is the same as if you were trespassing on someone's property.  Sure there's nothing physically stopping you and you might be just walking there but its not yours and nothing good can come from it.  If you were to go talking trash to someone on their front lawn and they came out and punched you in the face you could probably sue them but that doesn't mean you didn't get what you deserved.  He got exactly what he wanted- more media attention and focus off his subpar play.

And it is true that if you spit on someone in the "real world" it is considered ASSULT! So that is why I think they need to FINE AND SUSPEND him.  I think a little anger management class wouldn't hurt either.

There is always trash talking in all sports.  Spitting is never considered the same level as trash talking.  Spitting has always been crossing the line with any player of any sport.
