You remember two seasons ago when the Raiders fired Lane Kiffin and he filed a grievance to collect the money he felt he was owed by the team? Yeah, that was when people might actually have had sympathy for Kiffin, before he decided he wanted all the people in Tennessee to hate. Before he made enemies all across this nation.

Anyway, that grievance was denied today, according to ESPN.com.

Kiffin had been seeking about $2.6 million in lost salary after owner Al Davis fired him four games into the 2008 season “for cause.” He will get zero dollars instead.

Kiffin's salary request is denied

Sharkman, did the CEO that you knew, did he get a severance pkg. you guys should remember Al Davis hired Lane Kiffin, at the time he was one of those hot young coaches, AL did not have the patient to put up with him, if I remember Kiffin was not there long, The thing is the Raiders have been bottom feeders since the Superbowl against Tampa, long before Kiffin. the players in the NFL seem to have trouble adjusting to a young coach, and if I remember Kiffin rubbed the front office the wrong way, so he is at fault also, but like I said in another post Davis did the same with a young Mike Shanahan, and look how he turned out, my thought here is that  the Raiders are on the hook for the remainder of the contract no matter what the NFL said. also Kiffin should remain coaching college, He had the Tenn kids playing hard for him at end of last season, and has done alright with Southern Cal

Kiffin's salary request is denied

Over the years, Al Davis has made some brilliant decisions, and some dumb ones.  Firing Lane Kiffin was a really good decision.  As I recall, Al Davis came out with a list of things that Kiffin did, or was supposed to do, but did not do.  At the time, Al Davis was criticized in the media for that list, but as we see now, Al Davis was entirely justified.

Lane Kiffin reminds me of a corporate CEO that I know.  When it was announced that the CEO was fired from one of his previous employers, the stock went up five days in a row.  The CEO found a new and better job, based on all the hype surrounding him.  When he left that company, they announced that they were completely rebuilding their main product, since the quality had deteriorated so badly.  Now, my CEO acquaintance is running another large operation, and I shudder to think what he's going to do to that place.

I'm glad that Lane Kiffin lost on this battle.  You don't reward mediocrity or incompetence, you dispose of it.

Al Davis has a history of not honoring coaches contracts, see Mike Shanahan, as it turns out Lane is fighting for three hundred thousand, he should make it a legal issue, not going through the NFL coaches assocation  and I'm sure there may be a settlement, and give the money to charity! not sure why he did not choose to get a Lawyer out side the NFL to begin with.

Just Win, Baby!!!  One down, one to go.  Al is gonna sue that fat slug JaMarcus Bustell for impersonating a quarterback now.  That's an open-and-shut case if I ever saw one.
