It appears that Jeff Reed’s seventh missed field goal of the season– a 26-yard chip shot Monday night in Pittsburgh vs. the Patriots – will be his last for the Steelers.

Jay Glazer of Fox Sports reports that Pittsburgh has told Reed he has been cut. The Steelers will sign Shaun Suisham to replace Reed.

Will gives a good refresher course on Reed’s season here. You know, how he complained about the lack of a new contract and then had the worst year of his career in response.

Now, Suisham, a five-year veteran, get his chance. He hasn’t played this year, and throughout his career, he’s shuffled between gigs with the Cowboys and the Redskins. For his career, he’s been successful on 79.1 percent of his chances (Reed’s career percentage, by the way, is 81.9 percent).

But the worst part of Reed’s week? He was featured near the bottom of Will’s NFL Approval Matrix this week. Just how many insults is one man supposed to take, anyway?

Truth 5150: What are you talking about? Patriots schedule easy? Please. Obviously you are part of the hatriot nation.
Moss gone is something good for the Patriots. If you have noticed TFB is back to spreading the ball around to everyone, you know like back in the days when the Patriots won three Superbowls. Now I by no means am saying the Pats are Superbowl bound, but from a fans perspective, I like the direction the team is going in as a whole.
Welker is hurt, do you remember he blew out his ACL last season? So if Welker was to go down, they'd put in Edelman whom they've not even used alot so far this season.
It's fine if you hate the Pats, just learn something about them before you state a bunch of bs. Oh and btw, it seems Brandon Tate can burn teams deep, or am I missing something?

As a Steelers fan I am glad we lost to the Pats. It is just what the team needed. A wake up call to get their heads right before the run for the playoffs. Not to mention I live in Ohio so all the Browns fans who were afraid to bet me on the Browns Steelers game were all more than willing now. The Browns are playing great and it will be a great game but at least I got some action. Reed should have been cut before the season even started. Steelers would have made the playoffs last year if it wasn't for his lack of effort. There were two games lost because of kickoff return TDs where he made no effort to tackle the guy. Plus it looks like he gained about 60lbs from last year. Good ridins  meatball!

It would be nice if the new guy on the staff defines who Will is before he references him.  Confusing.  As far as Reed goes, the guy has been an embarassment to the Steeler organization for a couple years now, and not only for his play.  Maybe guys who get into trouble off the field should be a little more discreet about whining for a new contract.

No what he said is not out of line but to beleive that this game was a indication on how the Steelers season will turn out and his Pats team is already Superbowl contender is showing some true arrogance. Yes injuries are part of the game but don't beleive for one minute the Pats are dominating since I've seen their schedule and it's been a weak one and the only team they played that is even close to contending for a Superbowl was the Jets and we saw how that turned out. Let me put it to you this way if Welker gets hurt and the so called poison you released which was the only deep threat you guys had is now gone it's going to be a long tough finish!

The Steelers are far from "in trouble" and that's coming from a Pats fan.
It's not as if the Pats are the clear cut Superbowl fave now, that's just idiotic. There's ALOT of regular season football to be played yet.
Yeah NE whooped up on the Steelers and I loved it. But as a fan of the Pats, I know well that reserves CAN & DO step up when called upon, sometimes it just takes a few games before they get their stride going, no matter the position. Obviously some players are harder to replace than others but as a Pats fan, I still think that the Steelers are in the top 5 teams in the league and will be there come playoff time. I hate the Steelers but to say they're done just because the Pats beat them is insane. I felt good going into that game just because NE always plays well after a loss, other than that I felt Pitt was probably gonna edge out a win or at least had a helluva chance.
Ward going down in that game was probably a big help to the Pats, I don't like him either but there's no denying he's clutch and a great wideout.
My prediction for this week is that the Raiders will be beaten down by a pissed off Steeler team.

Nothing bmacredsox said was out of line.  He is dead on.  All of you other Steelers fans calling him out needs to wake up.  This team is in trouble, if we can't get better production out of the LT position now that Starks is gone for the year, how will we stack up in the playoffs against teams who have elite pass rushers?   The Pats was one of the worst pass rushing teams in the NFL and they still got 5 sacks on us.  And the defense needs to be altered a little bit.  A least when we play the pats again, if we get there.  But the pats aren't the ones to expose the D, it was the ravens.  They bring in max protection and wait until their WRs get open.  Our corners, other than Ike, are so weak that a WR will eventually get open.  What needs to happen I think on those plays is have the CB play man and the safeties play man on the same guy preventing the deep ball.  So man stays low while the other stay high.  Realizing that there can only be a couple of WRs going out on routes when you are max protecting.  Keep a LB spy on the TE or RB that will come out for a short patter, like Timmons.  But the zone has to end because a good QB will eat it alive when they get enough time.
