LT could have landed in Minnesota

Like everybody else in the free world, Brett Favre wouldn’t reveal to LaDainian Tomlinson in the offseason if he was coming back for his 20th season. The two exchanged text messages, because Tomlinson – free from a Chargers uniform – had Minnesota on his short list of destinations.

But Favre didn't make up his mind until midway through training camp, and Tomlinson soon forgot about the Vikings when he got to know Jets QB Mark Sanchez.

True story.

"When I looked at (Sanchez), I want to come here because of him," Tomlinson told the Newark Star Ledger.

"My thought process was, I can go with a guy that's lead his team to an AFC Championship as a rookie, got a great defense, great coaching staff or I could go somewhere where I don't know who's playing quarterback."

Ultimately, Tomlinson’s appearance in Minnesota most likely wouldn’t have saved the Vikings season. Instead, Tomlinson has found a new life with the Jets and now has a real chance to compete for a Super Bowl ring.

Funny how life works out sometimes (before this season, who would have picked Sanchez instead of Favre?).

You can find me 20 QBs better than Favre? Really? All-time? I can think of a few. Otto Graham, Unitas, Joe Montana, Dan Marino come to mind. But he is in the top five for sure. Stats speak for themselves. As for the fumbles....c-mon man the guy has played in every game for 19 yrs. Any QB that played that long would have that many fumbles and picks? Thats if he were to make it through the whole season let alone for a career. Geez. And as for accuracy....the guy is pretty good. You wouldnt be qb'n in this league without accuracy. His 17 ints this year are because of many things but accuracy is not it. Recievers dropping it, tipping it, falling down or running the run pattern. Or simply because he(Favre) is trying to make a play when the OL breaks down or the RB fails to pick up the blitz. There is a reason why Favre is still playing. Because he is the best at his job. From a vikings fan...I'm just glad this Favre thing is almost over much like the vikings season.

You're absolutely right Mark Sanchez won't be Brett Favre, he'll be Mark Sanchez.  And I do believe he has the ability to be better than Favre, who most benefits from the amount of time he's been in the league.  Yeah, he owns every record known to man but he also owns the least coveted record of most fumbles. While he's exciting to watch, a fiery obviously tough competitor he was and always will be known for making critical mistakes as much as his successes.  One thing you'll never be able to say about Favre is that he made sound decisions or was accurate, two of the most important traits of any "great" QB.  He's a prime example of how the media helps to shape the way a player is revered in the history books.  I can name 20 QB's who were and are far better than Favre.

Mark Sanchez probably won't be Brett Favre in his heyday but how many quarterbacks all time can even claim that? 8 to 10 maybe?

Sanchez should be a very good quarterback for a good, long time.

I am glad LT did not go here he would have probably retired mid season playing for this bad team and it would have been sad to see him go out ehat way

Dont matter. We dont have a running back problem. Dont need Tomlinson. Whether Favre came back or not. Sanchez is a good QB. And could turn out to be a great one. But he is no Brett Favre. Not Yet. And probably never will be as good. As it turns out though Tomlinson made the right choice in going to NY. He wouldn't have gotten the carries he was looking for in Minnesota. Remember we have Peterson...maybe the best RB in this decade.
