After recording just three catches for 17 yards against the Jets on Thursday, Bengals WR Terrell Owens now concedes that New York CB Darrelle Revis is, you know, maybe a touch better than average.

“Despite me calling him an average corner, real talk, the guy is pretty good,” Owens said following the Jets 26-10 win vs. the Bengals (via , apparently joining the rest of the world in thinking so.

“Nobody said anything when he called me a slouch. I've played this game enough to gain my respect and you guys want to make it a big deal because I called him average. I said what I said to kind of fire our team up.”

Instead, he managed to fire up Revis.

Owens admits error about Revis

Not fer nuttin, but anyone who takes Revis' comments about TO to heart needs to go stand in front of a mirror, look themselves in the eyes, and slap themselves as hard as they can because you need a reality check. WR's and DB's go to war with each other every week during the NFL season, and as in any war the front is psychological as well as physical. Any edge one can get on the other goes a long way on the football field. You really think Revis, an obvious student of the game who grew up watching TO on T.V., actually thinks he is not in the elite of NFL recievers historically??? It's a head game people, and if it's got your panties in a twist imagine what it did to Owens. Any way to get an edge on the guy you're lined up against on a given week, in my opinion, is fair play. Stop being so sensitive people!

I'd trade you McNabb and every reciever on the Redskins roster for TO. This guy plays every week. So what he says his mouth off. I hope he plays 5 more years. If he played with Montana, Steve Young and a hot Rich Gannon his whole career he would blow Jerry "Jesus in cleats" Records out of the water. No disrespect to Jerry (one of the greatest of all time). TO is a weapon and has shown it his whole career. People hate him because he runs his month but he backs it up 99% of the time. Revis may have shut him down but Revis is "The Island" as we all know. Nobody downs any other WR that Revis shuts down all day.

While no one can argue (reasonably) about TO being a great receiver, it's really hard to ignore his overall impact on a team.  Does he really make his "team" better?  He hasn't been part of a post-season win since his days with San Francisco.  Dallas won their first playoff game in over decade "after" they got rid of him.  The Eagles have made it to 5 conference championships and a Superbowl without him (he wasn't part of any of their post season wins).  My point is, has any team gotten better with him?  Some may argue that the Eagles did.  But in reality, they got no further with him than they did without him.

"Terrell Owens is an average WR"

In his "average 15 year career", all he's done is:

...move into the #2 all-time spot for recieving yards.

...average more than 1000 recieving yards per season.

...average more than 10 recieving TD's per season.

...average more than 5.5 catches per game.

...6 Pro Bowl appearances.

...5 times First-Team All-Pro

You're right!!  Those are averages.

I'm sure he'll average about 5 years after he retires to be inducted into the Hall of Fame too.

Maybe Owens isn't the one who's washed up.  Trent Edwards was his starting QB in Buffalo.  Carson Palmer appears to be the one who is washed up in Cincinnati.  This is a guy who came back after a broken leg 7 weeks later and almost won a Super Bowl for the Eagles.  Just because a guy is confident and arrogant, that doesn't make him a bad reciever.

I enjoy listening to the Jets fans sound just like the Yankees fans.  Of course, they have all those championships behind them just like the Yankees to back up all their smak talk..............  NOT!!  The Jets have not won a damn thing since Joe Namath actually played football!!  Of course, he almost got Suzie Kolber to kiss him at a Jets game.  That's almost as good as winning a Super Bowl right.  When your loud mouth coach looses on Monday night, please do not take it out on the wife, kids, or your dog.  Just take it like a man!!  Oh I forgot, your a Jets fan and really can't take anything like a man.

AMEN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
