Late on Monday night, amid an embarrassing loss to San Francisco, Derek Anderson got caught laughing with lineman Deuce Lutui. In his postgame press conference, Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic asked him why he was laughing (and Somers actually tweeted about asking him before the presser). Anderson's response was straight out of a Coors Light commercial and we've got video.

Here's the transcription for those that are curious:
"It wasn't funny. I wasn't laughing about anything ... Okay, that's fine. That's fine. That's fine. That's fine. That's fine. I'm not laughing about it -- you think this is funny, I take this f----- serious. Real serious. I put my heart and soul into this s--- every single week. I'm just telling you what I do right now what I do every single week! Every single week I put my freaking heart and soul into this! I study my a-- off! I don't go out there and laugh! It's not funny. Nothing's funny to me. I don't want to go out there and get embarrassed in front of everybody. I'm telling you right now -- Deuce and I were talking!"
Somers then tried to ask another question and Anderson just yelled "I'm done!" and stormed away from the podium.

The Arizona Republic's circulation is down by 2.5% from 2009 - do you think that Kent Somers yuks it up with coworkers in the office or is he seriously trying 100% of the time to get circulation back up.  Give Anderson a break.  He is what everyone knew he is: an inconsistent mediocre at best QB on an inconsistent mediocre at best FB team.  What he should have said in the interview was "This is a job for me just like your job is a job for you.  I am trying to have a good time at my job while still working hard for a win.  Next question please."

Hmmmmm...am I the only one that noticed that he didn't answer the question...If you take it serious, how are you going to be laughing anyway...ON MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL...IN FRONT OF MILLIONS OF VIEWERS...He is actually surprised that people took that wrong??? When he refused to clear the air as to why???  You can't get mad at the media for that...the reporter was actually trying to BAIL HIM OUT OF TROUBLE...he was giving him an opportunity to explain why and answer many fans' questions as to his behavior...The reporter could have just done a nasty article on him without even trying to find out the context.  When you play a GAME for a living to entertain people that pay obscene amounts of money to come see you PLAY, you owe those fans an answer!!  DA, you are NOT even close to good enough at your job to be a prima donna....He should have thanked that reporter for giving him the opportunity to explain what seemed to be inappropriate demeanor during that game.

The reporter called him out, and it wasn't very professional. But Anderson said him and the other player were just talking and the player told him he had his back, and they were trying to keep thier spirits up. Then, all of the sudden, Anderson totally denied laughing at all. So, he got the hell out of the press room.

Derek Anderson is too damn sensitive! The Cardinals performance was clearly embarassing and he played extremely poorly and the only emotion he showed was this tirade. Now that's what I call a competitor. Anderson should do us all a favor (especially the Cardinals) and quit professional sports. I have a three year old nephew who is more of a competitor than this loser, and he handles himself better as well. As for people dissing the reporter, thats uncalled for because he asked a legit question. When a team is getting embarrased on National (not regional) television, nobody wants to see the losing quarterback "laughing". Perception is everything, ask Philip Rivers, one of the most criticized quarterbakcs in football because of his emtions, yet he is one of the most competitive, upstanding, good character athletes in all of professional sports.

From his time in Cleveland Anderson was known as a guy that can't take the pressure of the job.  Part of the job is answering questions, many insane ones as well.  But why are you cracking up on the sideline during a humiliating loss is not a "pompous" question, it's a legit one.
