Late on Monday night, amid an embarrassing loss to San Francisco, Derek Anderson got caught laughing with lineman Deuce Lutui. In his postgame press conference, Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic asked him why he was laughing (and Somers actually tweeted about asking him before the presser). Anderson's response was straight out of a Coors Light commercial and we've got video.

Here's the transcription for those that are curious:
"It wasn't funny. I wasn't laughing about anything ... Okay, that's fine. That's fine. That's fine. That's fine. That's fine. I'm not laughing about it -- you think this is funny, I take this f----- serious. Real serious. I put my heart and soul into this s--- every single week. I'm just telling you what I do right now what I do every single week! Every single week I put my freaking heart and soul into this! I study my a-- off! I don't go out there and laugh! It's not funny. Nothing's funny to me. I don't want to go out there and get embarrassed in front of everybody. I'm telling you right now -- Deuce and I were talking!"
Somers then tried to ask another question and Anderson just yelled "I'm done!" and stormed away from the podium.

Derek Anderson tirade is all kinds of funny

It is the fans daily slap in the face from pro sports. Derek Anderson disappeared shortly after he got his contract, which is becoming the normal in sports. I do not have a problem with a reporter question his attitude.  We already know how he is playing. Either way he is laughing all the way to the bank.

Somers is an idiot

Listening to this clip, Kent Somers is addressing Derek Anderson like he is either his father or head coach. Either way, a grown man does not deserve to be addressed like Kent Somers was addressing Derek Anderson. If someone prodded me like Kent Somers was prodding Anderson, I am not sure I would have composed myself as well as Derek Anderson did. So what, he was caught having a laugh with one of his linemen on the sideline during a loss. If you can't laugh when times are tough, then you are taking things way too seriously. It's sad when a grown man is expected to answer to a reporter that obviously doesn't have anything better to write about than why two players are smiling. From the looks of his Bio on , he doesn't appear to be too happy about covering the Cardinals.

Derek Anderson tirade is all kinds of funny

The only reason I don't think it was a legitimate question is because the reporter was clearly trying to implicate that there was something wrong with Anderson for smiling. Like he didn't take the situation seriously. In all likelihood, Lutui made a sarcastic crack. Its not like Anderson was yukking it up. It was a very reserved type of smile...like the kind you give when you know something is only funny because its true, but not because it is truly funny, if you know what I mean. The only thing is Anderson should have just said something like: "Aw, Deuce made a sarcastic crack and I laughed even though I was bitter about the situation." However, to Anderson's credit, at least he didn't implicate Deuce in any way. I won't defend his poor play, but I can cut him some slack for this outburst. I am looking forward to the commercial, though.

I agree with Basesloaded,Kent Somers wasn't asking a simple question to Derek Anderson. He was doing what us bloggers do on this site and others, the only difference is he did it to his face. He was getting invasive into what Derek Anderson and Deuce Lutui were talking about, frankly it is none of his business. If he wanted to know how Anderson could have been laughing, he should have phrased his question better and approached it better and not have been so blatant. Does Anderson suck as a QB?? Yea, he's a career back up, but hey, at least he's still showing some fire. If Somers wanted an actual answer, and not push Anderson over the edge, maybe he could have tried " Some of the fans saw you and Deuce laughing on the sidelines while down by 18 points in the 4th quarter. What were you guys talking about that brightened your mood so much after appearing distraught." You give Anderson the idea you saw he cared (which he did during and after the game), but you get your point across and possibly get an answer instead of slapping the man in the face like that. Backup QB, or not. Matt Leinart or Derek Anderson. Hell even Peyton Manning, and you accuse a player of not caring, they will get cheesed off. Funny too how this reporter is knocking Anderson for smiling once on the sidelines, and knock Jay Cutler for being so over angry during the Eagles game.

Derek Anderson tirade is all kinds of funny

This is the most attention ive shown to Derek Anderson in about 4 years. Maybee he was laughing because every team he goes to had trouble winning 4 games or more. Or maybee because the organization choose him and Max Hall over Matt Lienart.

Basesloaded, it has everything to do about Leinart, Derek Anderson should not be on a NFL field period, your going to tell me he is better than Leinart, its about not wanting to pay Leinart, thats it. they should have traded Leinart during the draft,if they knew he was not their guy, somebody would have bit, they have done nothing but waste the fans of Arizona time, the back up Hall should be playing just if anything to get experience,What did the Cards think Anderson was going to do for them, answer that.

Derek Anderson tirade is all kinds of funny

It was a question many were asking. It could have been asked with a little more sensitivity, but it was a legitimate question considering how the Cards, and Anderson, have been playing over the past 5-6 games. Look, Anderson is a bum. He's never going to be more than he is...which is one of the worst 5 QBs in the league. Better to just let Hall & Skelton finish out the season, because the Cards are done and Anderson is a big reason why.

And equally as dumb is making this about Leinhart. It has nothing to do with Leinhart. Seriously, Leinhart? How easily we forget.

I applaud Anderson. Thought we were seeing the next Finegan-Johnson throwdown. You can't breathe anymore on the sidelines without some dope asking you what you were breathing about.
