Anderson to remain starter in Arizona

Derek Anderson had a little bit to say following Arizona's Monday night loss after being asked why he was smiling in the middle of a blowout.

On Tuesday, though, coach Ken Wisenhunt stuck for both he and Deuce Lutui, at whom Anderson was smiling.

"Those guys have worked hard, they want to win," Wisenhunt said, via the Arizona Republic. "I'm not going to read too much into a couple of seconds of what you see on video. I'm going to base it on what I know about those guys and their demeanor and their approach."

That's a pretty fair assessment -- even if Anderson did FLIP OUT and scream at Kent Somers, it's not like smiling on the football field, even amid a nasty public beatdown, is worth cutting someone and moving on, provided they're at least trying.

Anyway, some good news: Anderson's shoddy performance Monday (15/35, 196 yards, no TDs, one pick) won't cost him his job according to Coach Ken Wisenhunt on Tuesday.

Wisenhunt indicated that Anderson gives the Cardinals the "best chance to win" and while that's debatable given his level of play, it's at least excusable because the other options involve throwing either John Skelton or Max Hall under the bus.

The Cardinals are probably out of contention (though not technically) and risking the development of those guys when Anderson's available just seems like a silly proposition. So in good news -- five more weeks of really awkward postgame interviews!

I agree. Wisenhunt should be ran out of town if he thinks Anderson was better for the team than Lienhart. Another coach on a power trip who has no clue what talent is.Anderson is brutal and the cards are a joke.

John Skelton?  Who is that?  I had to google him to find out he was drafted in the 5th round.  Why doesn't he get a chance?  You're paying him & that Brady guy was drafted lower, so why not give him a shot to see what he can do?  Unless there is something I don't know?

Just not a very good QB.  Team looks like it has no chance of winning when he's in there.  He may as well laugh a little when he's out there.

Anderson to remain starter in Arizona

The media and the Fans of Arizona ran the wrong quarterback out of town this past preseason. Anderson reminded me of Ryan Leaf last night and I kind of felt sorry for him.  when drafting a QB people in the 21st Centrury you must make sure they can talk to the media as well as they can play football and Anderson has a problem with both.  Speaking to the media these days is more then just a debreafing of the game its representing all those fans who came out to see you, it represents former greats like Pan Tillman, it represents the kid who wears your jersey to the game proud.  You let one question get you mad like that but loosing at home was no big deal.  If you would have just showed smome of that emotion on the field maybe just maybe you could have fired up your team to go and battle with you but instead you sat on the bench speaking something private with a fellow teamate on a national televised game on MONDAY NIGHT FOOOTBALL.

What's sad is that they are still 2 games out of 1st with a 3-8 record.

It's funny how Cleveland gets better when he leaves, and the NFC Champions from 2 years ago are going belly up when he joins them.. That should be a sign. I would like to see Max Hall over this one-year wonder. Build for the future (which Anderson shouldn't be a part of).

Gee I wonder how well Matt Leinert would be doing on this team.  It sad that two 3 wins teams were playing for second place in their division.  The Cards never really gave him a chance.  Now they are staying with Derrick Anderson who had one half of a season and has made his money.  I wonder how long before they really panic and call Kurt Warner and offer him a huge contract to come back.

DOES HE KNOW THE FIELD HAS A LEFT SIDE? THE CARDINALS LINE FITZGERALD UP ON THE LEFT SIDE AND ALL PASSES ARE THROWN TO THE RIGHT. THE ALMOST TOUCHDOWN TO FITZGERALD WAS THROWN ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ENDZONE. ANDERSON IS A JOKE.

Gee I wonder why D.A. was let go by the Browns?  Does he ever see the open receiver or just throw to the primary receiver no matter what?  15/35 what kind of stat is that?  But Max or DA?  if Wisenhunt doesn't do something DA and wisenhunt will be  looking for a job.  If he can make it rhu this season the cardinals will have a high draft choice for a QB
