After Brett Favre left the game early in the first quarter with a shoulder injury, Vikings backup QB Tarvaris Jackson played a big part in Minnesota’s 24-point win against the Bills today – although RB Adrian Peterson was OK (107 rushing yards, three TDs), Jackson went 15 of 22 for 187 yards, two TDs and three picks.

Still, coach Leslie Frazier has not changed his mind.

He told reporters after the game that Favre, as long as he’s healthy enough to play, will remain his starting quarterback.

Frazier also said, according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press that Favre has a shoulder sprain but he’s not sure how severe the injury is. As long as he’s ready to play next week vs. the Giants, Frazier said he’ll start Favre.

Favre said, though X-rays were negative, he couldn’t throw the ball and the only way he could have helped the team today was to hand off left-handed. He said it’s a sprained sternum-clavicle joint.

Surprisingly, Favre has never had one of those before.

I totally disagree. Frazier realizes this team can win by emphasizing the running game...something Childress ignored to do. His announcement that Favre will start next week ("IF healthy") is the right thing to do. This makes him the good guy, not the bad guy in this situation, and he realizes Tarvaris did throw 3 INT's yesterday - one being a very Favresque pick-6 to start with.

Why not look at it this way; Vikes play the Giants next week. The Giants have knocked out the most QB's this season, including two in the NFC North; Cutler and Hill. The Giants have the honor of playing all of the NFC North teams this year...Vikes this week, Packers on Dec. 26.  The possibility exists for the Giants to be the first team in history to knock out the starting QB from each team in an opposing division in the same year. If Frazier doesn't want to go down in history as the, ahem, interim coach to stop a future HOF's record game streak, wouldn't it make sense for him to give someone else (i.e. Giants D) that honor?

Where to begin...

"Bret will take himself out with either real or faked injury" It is in fact "Brett" (which just looks sad on your part when you constantly get his name wrong) and site evidence of a "faked" injury.

"Brent Sterger is a joke!!!!" Your regurgitation of completely bias diatribe limits your ability to make an objective observation. Next time leave the hate at the front door so your assessment isn't the biggest "joke" on the board.

"He'll do ANYTHING to get that 300-game starting streak" Yet again we see mere speculation. I guess proof is overrated...

"No one wants to be the one the end the streak. Childress didn't have the spine..." Speculation. Site evidence in your argument.

"
Favre getting rag dolled by the Giants D brings a smile to my face" Quite disturbing, really. You fantasize about people you don't like in great pain. I believe they have medication for that.

There is a lot of sheer hate running rampant through these message boards. Instead of basing arguments off of actual evidence, facts, or first-hand knowledge arguments are based off of hate. An example of a strong case would be "his interceptions are extremely high this season which offset his low touchdown total, and his performance on the field is far from his personal best of only a season ago." Maybe your narcissistic appetites are just too strong.

Frazier doesn't have to make a coaching decision. Bret is knocked out of every other game he plays this year. Bret will take himself out with either real or faked injury so he doesn't force Frazier to be the one to stop the streak. Also, I don't think we have to worry about Bret coming back next year. Who (maybe the Browns after the Delhomme decision) would give him a starting job after this year?

Of COURSE Favre will keep starting. He'll do ANYTHING to get that 300-game starting streak, no matter how battered he is. Oh, and I don't believe for one minute that this is really his "last" year. We've heard that song before.

As far as I can tell, Leslie Frazier doesn't want to keep this job.

No one wants to be the one the end the streak. Childress didn't have the spine for it and Goodell doesn't have the spine for it since the NFL is dragging out the Sterger investigation, so you know Frazier isn't going to be the one.

Even if it makes the most sense to do so in order to evalute the players you have no one wants to go down in history as the one that ended Favre's streak shy of 300 consecutive starts.

They'll have to cart Favre off the field on a gurney before it happens and he's egotistical enough to go along with it.
