Spikes' positive test came from ADD meds?

You already knew that Patriots rookie Brandon Spikes has been suspended four games for violating the league’s banned substance policy.

He released a statement after the suspension was announced, saying “the substance was a medication that I should have gotten clarification on before taking,” and “it was not a performance enhancer or an illegal drug.”

Sounds like Spikes was telling the truth.

According to the Boston Globe, Spikes tested positive for a medication that’s used to treat attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder. Apparently, the drug is thought to contain amphetamines – which is on the banned list.

Spikes still isn’t planning to appeal the suspension.

Here's a news flash: if you are being treated for a condition under a doctor's supervision and the drug you test positive for is one that you have a legitimate prescription for, you would not be suspended.   The medical review officer who reviews drug test results would contact you, get the prescription info, talk to your doctor and everything would be cool.

How much longer will the media continue to believe the BS excuses from  athletes who test positive for banned substances?

Adderall DOES contain amphetamines.  Adderall is a Schedule II controlled substance and requires a prescription due to its high abuse potential.  I am surprised the prescribing physician did not warn this professional athlete that the drug contains amphetamine.  All Spikes has to is show the NFL his prescription and he will be cleared.   If he does not have a prescription and it appears he doesn't, he has bigger problems.

If he was actually trying to cheat, he likely wouldn't have come out and admitted it was Aderal.  Big trouble for securing drugs like this with no prescription...

Since you're a Pats fan, I'm not surprised at your ignorance. Nothing against the Pats. Just you.

obongo sux you are stupid do you have adhd?? if you don't then your stupid you got to have medicine to help you i couldn't get through college without it. wouldn't be able to sit in a chair for longer than 10 minutes without having to get up or shake my legs like crazy as a result of the hyper activity and i could barely pay attention with this you doze off and start daydreaming or thinking about things you have to do without even realizing it and by the time you realize your doing it class is over.  because of adhd i got put in soccer so i can run liike crazy and try to work off some of my energy.  i still had to take my medicine thugh no matter what. if that was a banned substance someone should have helped him and told him hes probly been taking that since he was six just like me. i would've been suspended too because i didn't even know what was in it. i don't relly like the susension i praise spikes for hw he has handled it by just keeping his mouth shut cause i couldn't if this same thing happened to me i'd be pissed.
