It's almost a shame that there's been so much craziness in the NFL this year, because one of the best stories to come out of 2010 -- the emergence of Peyton Hillis as a stud running back -- has gone under the radar a little bit.

But make no mistake, he's having a monster year. And on the Browns first drive Sunday against the Bills, Hillis because just the third player in Browns history to rush for 1,000 yards and 11 TDs in a season, joining Jim Brown and Leroy Kelly in some pretty elite company.

The other amazing thing is that Hillis is a white running back. And that sounds silly, but there hasn't been a 1,000 yard Caucasian rusher in the NFL since 1985.

As Michael Wilbon recently said, it doesn't matter what your skin color is, if you're a minority in sports at a certain position, and you achieve an amazing goal like that, you should be celebrated. Although don't tell Hillis that.

"I’m a human just like everybody else is a human," Hillis said recently. "I don’t think race really matters. Guys on this team look at me as a person, not as an image or a race."

Perhaps even crazier with Hillis, though, is that he was a fullback at Arkansas with Darren McFadden and Felix Jones and went completely unnoticed (relative to them) when it came to prospective studliness in the NFL.

Just image if Denver had a run game of Moreno, Torain, and Hillis. McDuhniels doesn't believe in that stuff though.

I hear Brady Quinn is doing well.

Hills crosses 1,000-yard rushing mark

Hillis showed some flashes of excellence in Denver but seemed to get hurt before ever establishing himself in a feature role. Going to Cleveland was a blessing for him as he gets a chance to flourish in a power run game with no QB presence.
