By the time you're reading this, the words "Sal Alosi" will be trending on Twitter. That's because Sal Alosi is the name of the Jets coach who tripped the Dolphins' Nolan Carroll during Sunday's game.

Alosi, a strength and conditioning coach in his fourth year with the Jets, stuck his leg out and took Carroll down, as you can see below.

"The team is reviewing the situation and looking into the appropriate next steps," a Jets spokesperson told members of the media.

Originally, the Jets took Alosi was "ushered away under security" but the team eventually confirmed he was the guilty party.

Dolphins players didn't take the whole thing too well either.

"That is so dirty," Dolphins linebacker Karlos Dansby said, before nominating the play for Monday night's "Come on, MAN!" segment.

"They're cheaters -- they do what they do," Channing Crowder said. "They cheat and talk junk and they do all that stuff but we beat the hell out of them today. I tell you the truth, I would have broke that old man's leg."

Carroll himself said he wasn't mad and declined to comment on it (and, seriously, go watch Jeff Darlington's "Miami Minute" with all these quotes. They're hysterical.)

Of course, the Jets have plenty more to fix than just dirty strength and conditioning coaches on the sideline, as CBS Sports' Ian Eagle and Dan Fouts point out below.

Sal Alosi confirmed as Jets 'sideline tripper'

If the immortal Woody Hayes could get fired for punching a player wearing a helmet, Sal Alosi doesn't stand a chance.  He will be fired by the end of the week.
The Jets should fire him as coach and sign him up as a cornerback since he actually got someone to the ground.  Pair him up in the secondary with that mascot from Ohio.

"Hmmmm ... Jets fans are a bit quiet when they are the ones finally caught cheating."

GoTeamGo, did you really just compare a guy getting tripped to spygate?  Wow!

FIRE THIS CLOW FOR BEING DOWN RIGHT STUPID

Fire this clown for two reason. The first for being a low life POS that would do this. The second reason he needs to be fired is for being so stupid. How could you be so stupid to think you could do this and get away with it. To many good people out there need a job. Fire this slimeball and hire a person with some class, because this clown HAS NONE.

Justmyop-Not serious?  This was a coach of a team, someone who is supposed to be a leader and educator to his players and he does this.  If I would a player I wouldn't be able to look at him the same again knowing that he's this kinda person.  The things you were talking about go on in the course of the game.  A COACH sticking his knee out to trip a player DOESN'T.  Get a clue because you don't have one but hey thats JUST MY OPINION!!!

That guy needs to be fired or at least fined as much as Pittsburg's Harrison. I have no clue what he makes but a 100K fine should take a big chunk of it away.

He's not going to get fired over this.  Lineman trip each other and get 10 yard penalties.  Defensive players go helmet to helmet and don't get fired.  He gets a fine, suspension, and made fun of for the rest of his life  They can't fire him for this.  Was it cheap?  Yes.  A big deal.  No.  And it had nothing to do with Rex.
