Michael Vick talks about owning a dog

On the surface, it sounds like one of the most audacious statements in the history of mankind. "I would love to get another dog in the future," Michael Vick told TheGrio.com. Vick, you may have heard, doesn’t have a great track record with dog ownership. A court order rule prohibits him from owning a canine.
M. Vick (US Presswire)
But the Vick of today obviously views dog ownership in a different light than did the Vick of four years ago. "I think it would be a big step for me in the rehabilitation process. I think just to have a pet in my household and to show people that I genuinely care, and my love, and my passion for animals."

Strange as it is, Vick’s dogfighting trial was one of the best things to ever happen to pit bulls. It pulled back the curtain on the heinous underground activity and brought about a wave of public awareness and sympathy for the animals. Vick’s work with the Humane Society – including the work he has done not by legal obligation but by choice – has had a similar impact. And, perhaps most important, it has eliminated the pretext that dogfighting is simply part of back roads culture.

"I hate to use our culture as an excuse, but it is what it is and that's what happened and that's the way I thought about it growing up," Vick said. "This is just the way we were brought up."

Not anymore. Thanks to Vick, there isn’t a person in America who sees dogfighting in shades of grey.

People who have a drinking problem shouldn't drink.
People who commit violent crimes with guns shouldn't be allowed to own a gun.
People who do the things Vick did to dogs, shouldn't be allowed to own a dog.
It's just how I feel. I've been a Falcons fan for over 20 years.
Been through bad seasons and good ones.
Do I harbor any bad feelings towards Vick for what he put my team
through at the end of his time here? Not any more, I did
while it was going on, but I'm proud of the way my team
has handled it and grown from it. While I don't necessarily
wish him the best, I pretty much don't really care how he does.
I just think he shouldn't be able to own a dog again.

Enjoy your hunting shows then, Bubba. Do you have a gun rack on your pick up truck too?  How much furniture is in your front lawn?

Again..I reiterate..people who support this classless, piece of garbage excuse for a human being make me want to vomit.

Just do me one favour Mike.  Don't praise your love for animals.  Just speak the truth and stick to the rehabilition role.

That's a good point.  Don;t spout off about your love and passion for dogs after you spent all that time trying to invent new creative ways to torture them and make sure they died slow painful deaths,.

Michael Vick talks about owning a dog

You know.... I still dont know what to think of this whole situation.  I've been a dog owner my whole life.  Currently sitting next to my 2 yr old boston terrier.  After hearing what Vick did I almost threw up.  But in all honestly.  He actually seems to have changed.  I don't forgive Mike Vick.  He is still paying for his actions... as he should be.   I'm still angry over the situation.  But maybe, just maybe,  he's a different human being.   I hope he is.  He's the most entertaining pro athlete to watch right now, and I'm all for supporting his career, and he's "rehabilitation".  Just do me one favour Mike.  Don't praise your love for animals.  Just speak the truth and stick to the rehabilition role.

Vick in on probation and I am all for giving him a chance at being a dog owner again.  He would have to bring the dog in periodically to be observed by a vet and it should be fair for him to have polygraph every 6 months for a year or two to make sure he was taking good care of the dog.  I mean great care.  If the dog has any suspicious marks, injuries, you name it, Michael Vick better have more than a good story.
Michael Vick is not some suicidal former German Chancellor.  He is a regular guy who had some pretty screwed up ideas of the difference between a pet and prey.

The real idiots are the ones who support this piece of garbage excuse for a human being..

It is so unbecomming of a human being to kill innocent animals for sport. I do love the hunting shows on Versus, the closeups before the kill is made, and the intensity used to track down the unsuspecting injured animal.
I can't believe people are still angry about this. Or are you more angry that a felon is allowed to rehab, atone for his mistake, enter back into society, and make millions(much of which will be spent on debts)?
