You may have heard that Brett Favre’s consecutive starts streak ended at 297 Monday night. So who is the new current ironman of the NFL?

If we’re talking about consecutive starts streak, it’s Peyton Manning (205). You probably knew that. With an 18-game schedule likely in effect, Manning will match Favre’s all-time mark in five years.

If we’re talking about consecutive games PLAYED streak, there are three ironmen: Manning, London Fletcher and Ronde Barber. Fletcher has made 158 consecutive starts. Barber is at 180 and counting.

Consecutive games played doesn't really mean much.

Consecutive starts is meaningful, but not terribly important.

Much like Brett Favre's streak, it really is an absolute sham that is only for the record books.

Between Brett Favre and Peyton Manning they've both started so many games that they left or never should have started to begin with...

All those games where they said along the lines of "I'm hurting, but I can still play" only to leave the game in the first quarter are ridiculous..

Favre had a lot of games where his elbow or shoulder hurt and he left in the 1st or 2nd quarter when he was with the Packers, so many it's laughable..

Manning has been like a stubborn "I want my streak!" type of player more then tough.  Those games with the knee injuries where he was a statue and limping around come to mind.

I don't know...
