NFL targets Jets special teams coach

In the wake of the Sal-Alosi-tripping-Nolan-Carroll incident, Jets special teams coach Mike Westhoff – who came off as a pretty cool guy on “Hard Knocks” – claimed (and rightfully so) that other teams pull similar stunts on their sidelines (though, perhaps not as blatantly as the Jets and not as caught on national TV).

But Westhoff might have gone a step too far when he accused the Patriots of skirting the line on unethical, if not illegal, play.

Said Westhoff during a recent radio interview: "Well, if you watch (the Patriots), their defense when the opponents’ punt team is out there, they’re up there pretty close to the line so it looks like they are trying to do it. Now are they doing anything illegal? Are they tripping anybody? Heck no. I’m not saying that. That’s not the point. But, yeah, they’re lined up there. Is it making a difference? I don’t know.”

Now, the NFL is investigating the comment, because, in the NFL, it’s frowned upon to accuse another team of rule-breaking without producing proof.

"It’s something that we’re looking into, our staff has been looking into and I expect to get a report within the next day or so," commissioner Roger Goodell said, via the Boston Globe.

All of this serves as a reminder. If you mess with the Belichick, you get the horns.

The NFL hates the Jets. They wont relent on the Jets sideline conduct, but if you're a PLAYER on another team, you can run off the bench and trip a player. Then all you get is a small fine...end of story.
This actually may be true. The NFL notoriously dislikes "whistle blowers" and those that try to drag others into their mistakes. If Rex owned up and said "I did it" he would have gotten a fine and everyone would have moved on. You know the way Bellichick during spy gate. The NFL can't like the release of Rex's wifes feet. Class act down in NY.

The Jets do it they end one coach's career and try to end at 30 year coach's career. This is a joke...tell the gunners to stay in the friggin field of play and this becomes a non-issue. It the only play in football where the players are allowed on the opposing team's sideline.

Get it right NFL

You're right.  The people that hate the Patriots are South of Conn., which is about 90% of the population.  It's hard to embrace an organization that seems to have a problem abiding by the rules.

The only people who hate Bellacheat and the Patriots are those low life scumbags who reside south of Conn. You know the type of of people fast Eddie. They come from NY or NJ. They come from Maryland and Pittsburgh. People who have loser teams like the Jets, Steelers, Ravens. Teams that the patriots routinely smack around and use as their play things. Teams that the patriots walk into their house and embarrass them. The only thing I regret is that the Patriots won't beat the jets in the playoffs this year because they will be knocked out before the Patriots get a chance to trounce them.
