Jenn Sterger's meeting with Goodell 'heated'?

Jenn Sterger met with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell last week to wrap up the league’s two-month investigation into the Brett Favre sexting allegations. Goodell and Sterger met in Manhattan for roughly two hours. According to Pro Football Talk, the meeting became “heated” at times.

Mike Florio of PFT writes, “It’s not surprising that it became heated, given the perception by Sterger’s representatives that no action will be taken against Favre.  Sterger’s manager, Phil Reese, and her lawyer, Joe Conway, believe that Sterger’s name can be cleared only with a finding that Favre in some way violated the league’s Personal Conduct Policy via his interactions with Sterger.”

Goodell also met with Favre after the Vikings’ Monday night game against the Bears.

“You know, I saw him briefly for I would say five or 10 minutes,” Favre said in a press conference afterwards. “It was a very brief conversation, so I wouldn’t think — I wouldn’t call that an investigation or anything.”

The NFL is expected to make a ruling on Favre this week.

Jenn Sterger's meeting with Goodell 'heated'?

So let me get this straight. She is a virgin, that has never seen a male's sex organ, and she doesnt know how to use the erase button on her phone. Its either that, or she is a gold digger. Humm, which one could it be?

Jenn Sterger's meeting with Goodell 'heated'?

So tell me, what is Sterger supposed to do when she opens up her phone to see the "ol' gunslinger's .22" displayed for her . . . well, for her WHAT?  For her amusement?  Titilation?  Arousal?  Shock?  Awe? Empirical analysis?  Edification?

There seem to be some prepubescents out there in sports world who seem to think this should all be taken in stride, and that this is all such a small thing (no pun intended!).  They seem to think that she is over-reacting or that she is in it all for the money.

Maybe she is in it for the money, and she certainly hasn't met a camera she doesn't like, but that in no way mitigates what Favre has done.  You don't have a right to do this to somebody, and if you claim that right, you deserve what you get.  Boys will be boys, but men should be gentlemen.  And football players should be human being enough to know this is wrong.  Stupid (and not just because of the consequences) and wrong.

If it was her name she was worrying about, she wouldn't have ever come out with these accusations... Now she realizes that she looks like an idiot and no one is backing her up except for her lawyer.

Jenn Sterger's meeting with Goodell 'heated'?

Is Adolf Goodell going to suspend his Golden Boy Brett Fart or not?? I'm starting to think not.

Jenn Sterger's meeting with Goodell 'heated'?

"The truth is her name will never be cleared. She is a Monica Lewinsky no matter what the facts are."

That pretty much sums it up.

Look, I'm not a Favre fan.  And I think the real punishment for him here will be trying to smooth this all over at home.

But as far as Sterger 'clearing her name,' let us not forget that she and her 'representation' are the ones who opted to drag this into the public eye and turn it into a media circus in the first place.  It could have all been handled between lawyers and behind closed doors.  Lord knows Favre's camp would have preferred that.  But her advisors thought that by dragging it into the news and making a scene, they could force the league to suspend Favre or otherwise punish him (since apparently they don't have much faith in their ability to punish him through the legal system).  Unfortunately for her, instead of making an example of Favre, she's made herself look petty and vindictive (after all, if he actually did commit the act, shouldn't this be legal action?  Why try to force the NFL's hand?  That gains her nothing in terms of restitution or justice).

If her advisors knew Goodell half as well as most anyone who follows the NFL, they would know that above all, he is a Type A control freak.  Which is to say:  he's not about to let anyone else tell him what to do.  The practical translation, of course, is that by getting testy with Goodell, she's probably invoking his stubborness and ensuring that he'll NOT penalize Favre... just to prove that he doesn't have to cave to her whims.

I don't know whether or not she is actually the 'victim' of Favre's ridiculous picture messages.  But I do know she's a victim of some very bad management advice.  She and her representation have turned what could conceivably have been a behind-the-scenes investigation and/or a profitable civil suit into a reputational self-mutilation, with little or nothing to show for it.  Any chance she had for 'clearing her name' or (at minimum) not looking like she had alterior motives is long gone.  I don't know if it should be... I don't know if she's in the right or not... but her people handled it so badly that that's what she's left with.

Jenn Sterger's meeting with Goodell 'heated'?

The fact that he is married is a personal matter and none of our or the leagues business.  This has nothing to do with football.  Let it go already.  And she is obviously trying to get money or she would have said something when it happened.
