A lot of speculation bubbled up last week that Bill Cowher (who happens to work for CBS' Sports) had a "wish list" of teams he wanted to coach.

The three teams on the list -- the Giants, Dolphins and Texans -- all have currently-employed coaches, and that fueled more speculation as to why Cowher (or someone associated with him) would leak the info with those teams' respective coaches clinging to their gigs.

On Sunday, Cowher addressed the issue at the start of The NFL Today, stating that he was "insulted" by the report.

"I have too much respect for the profession, I know how hard it is," Cowher said. "I don't wish for anyone to be fired. And for someone to insinuate that I'm doing that right now is disrespectful to them and I'm insulted by it.

I would not do that to the profession and I hope every one of these coaches has an opportunity to come back. I'm not naive enough to say there won't be changes at the end of the year and I'll address that at the end of the year."

Cowher also pointed out that he's got "a pretty good team" with CBS who happens to be heading to the playoffs before repeating the point that he was insulted by the report.

What made the "leaked list" so surprising is that it doesn't fit Cowher's M.O. in the first place -- he'll have plenty of opportunities to coach teams in the NFL and doesn't likely need to let a team with a soon-to-be-fired head coach know in advance that he's interested.

I bet Cowher didn't spell incorrectly when he spoke.  "To much respect", really? And, "I would do not that", is a nice bit of Yoda-speak.  How about proofing your work before posting?

Cowher 'insulted' by 'disrespectful' coach rumors

It's because we have so many tabloid football sources these days, Benoit and Brinson here on this site, along with the staples, Gregg Doyel and Pete Prisco...Football Outsiders that are truely way outside, Cold Hard Football facts that seem as biased as a group could be, and of course the Bleacher Report which is nothing more than a clothesline gossip center by message board posters.

If anyone had a clue about football, they would be working in the NFL, not making things up.
