A lot of speculation bubbled up last week that Bill Cowher (who happens to work for CBS' Sports) had a "wish list" of teams he wanted to coach.

The three teams on the list -- the Giants, Dolphins and Texans -- all have currently-employed coaches, and that fueled more speculation as to why Cowher (or someone associated with him) would leak the info with those teams' respective coaches clinging to their gigs.

On Sunday, Cowher addressed the issue at the start of The NFL Today, stating that he was "insulted" by the report.

"I have too much respect for the profession, I know how hard it is," Cowher said. "I don't wish for anyone to be fired. And for someone to insinuate that I'm doing that right now is disrespectful to them and I'm insulted by it.

I would not do that to the profession and I hope every one of these coaches has an opportunity to come back. I'm not naive enough to say there won't be changes at the end of the year and I'll address that at the end of the year."

Cowher also pointed out that he's got "a pretty good team" with CBS who happens to be heading to the playoffs before repeating the point that he was insulted by the report.

What made the "leaked list" so surprising is that it doesn't fit Cowher's M.O. in the first place -- he'll have plenty of opportunities to coach teams in the NFL and doesn't likely need to let a team with a soon-to-be-fired head coach know in advance that he's interested.

Cowher 'insulted' by 'disrespectful' coach rumors

Who is Cowher?   Totally irrelevant know-nothing-hack of a  coach.   He NEVER won a title.  (Seattle clearly won Superbowl XL  although Cowher was given the trophy by the refs)

His comments of the NFL and the game are always pointless.    I can't believe this guy is even given a voice to speak about football.

Cowher is a tough guy with a lot of heart. those are the football players that have been in the Pittsburg organization
over the years. I don't think he has an image builder, he is all real.

Even Cleveland fans repsect him, and know he is honest, and a fair player.

Will someone with a brain please tell me exactly how many Super Bowls Dan Reeves won WITH Elway?

How many Super Bowls did Wade Phillips win with Elway?

People with brains know that superbowls aren't one by one player, smartass

I too would love to see Cowher in Miami, I'm not sure it would be "The Change" we need though, I'm thinking more along the lines of a new QB. I'm done with Henne, bring on Cam Newton!

Broncos have room for you.  I would love to see Cowher or chucky coach the Denver Broncos.
