T. Sparano (US Presswire)
Tony Sparano has been a surprise member of the NFL’s row of late-season hot seats the past several weeks. The Dolphins are a modestly-respectable 7-8, but owner Stephen Ross, who is intent on making a splash in the entertainment world of South Beach, is not pleased with the team’s 1-7 record at home.

Sparano was brought to Miami as a Bill Parcells guy. Now, according to Michael Lombardi of NFL Network, he’ll remain in Miami because of the Big Tuna. Lombardi says Parcells, who stepped down from his post as the Dolphins’ football czar prior to the season, has convinced Ross to stick with Sparano.

Sparano was Parcells’ offensive line coach in Dallas. He led a 1-15 Dolphins team to an 11-5 record and AFC East division title in his ’08 debut season as the head coach.

Just because Sparano is staying doesn't necessarily mean the Dolphins won't be bringing in someone with head coaching experience. Lombardi also said, according to the Miami Herald, that the offensive coordinator vacancy (remember, Dan Henning is set to retire) could be filled by either Josh McDaniels or, if he’s available, Gary Kubiak.

Report: Parcells convinces Ross to keep Sparano

This is absolute BS.  Parcells ruined this team for another few years while we rebuild once again.  Ross, you are dumber in the football world then we thought.

Parcells convinces Fins' owner to keep Sparano

Now Bill Parcells should convince Stephen Ross that Dan Henning needs to be fired, and that they need tolimit Sparano's web of control.  No way this team goes anywhere with Dan Henning running the offense.

If Parcells stepped down, why does he still have input on a coach?

I think Miami's problems are much the same as my Broncos.  Although I think Miami is a much better team overall, I think they just need a leader at QB, on the field.   Or at least a guy who the team can look at and say "This guy can get it done for us."  When a team believes, it's magic on the field.

I agree dolphinfan, Im ok with this, but we DO need to upgrade at QB, as soon as henne faces pressure he is garbage.  Literally threw away a few games this season for us. Lets fire henning, Get a better QB, and start winning the games that we should have won this year.

The record does not lie...

Sparano was an Offensive line coach, yet this seasons protection and running game has struggled BIG TIME!!!!

Our Defense won the games on the road, Thank You Mike Nolan.

Offensively, we could not score a touchdown....

Fire him, if not, you will lose a few season ticket holders...He is not capable to turn the team around...he doesnt have "It"

If you do keep him, hopefully it is as an assistant coach.

QWe need to make a BIG Name move...

Gruden, Cower, Billick, Garrett?

DO NOT listen to Parcells. That fat piece of garbage took his money and ran. He gets way too much credit for Miami going from 1-15 to 11-5. They werent a 1-15 team but injuries, bad coaching and an off year was to blame. We need a real coach not a cheerleader with no balls. We need to fire Henning and Sparano and go after someone with a name and fire!

I am ok with this. Something needs to be done at qb and with the play calling we need to be more agressive thoughout the game not just in the first 3 quarters.....D is on the rise and nolan is awesome.......draft a qb ...is it out of line to think we could get Cam?
