Looks like Hasselbeck will be a go Sunday

Come on, you didn’t really believe Pete Carroll when he said that Charlie Whitehurst would be the starter this Sunday against the Rams...right? As many expected, it looks like Matt Hasselbeck has indeed found a way to get his strained left hip healthy (or healthy enough) in time for Seattle’s de facto playoff game.

The 35-year-old veteran practiced Friday and is expected to be under center Sunday night. ESPN.com’s Mike Sando explains, “The week went to plan for Seahawks coach Pete Carroll. He wanted backup Charlie Whitehurst to get ample reps in practice just in case. He wanted Whitehurst to be ready. He wanted the team to be ready for Whitehurst. But if Hasselbeck can play Sunday, Hasselbeck will get the start.”

Retire please

Then maybe him and his bald, sucky brother can have a show on the oprah network together.  The only ones who want to listen to a thing he has to say is middle aged fat women.

I mean, I want the Rams to win this game, but I'm glad that Matt is going to play. The reason I say this is because I want Seattle to have a fair shot at the playoffs as well. If they had Charlie Whitehurst in there, it definitely wouldn't have been fair. But I agree with whoever said if the Seahawks loose this game and Matt plays, this will be Matt Hasselbeck's last game in a Seahawk jersey.

Its not about draft picks, its about Matt not being the guy anymore. He is a timing QB and defenses have learned to disrupt his timing. Just look at the 6 turnover game. (4 picks and 2 fumbles) That doesnt tell me he is the man to lead the team to the playoffs, or even lead this team anymore. Plus its pretty embarassing to say that the team may make the playoffs with a 2 games under .500 record. The first in NFL history.

I've been a Hawk fan since the beginning and this is the first year that I hope they don't make the playoffs. Even if they do they will get killed in the first round just like they have been in every game the last half of the season.

If Seahawks win we host a playoff game so this wouldn't be hasselbeck's last home game.  Provided he doesn't get hurt.

Draft picks are a crap shoot anyway.  If your best reasoning for the Seahawks to lose this game is so they can draft higher, you know nothing about football.  How many number 1 picks have busted out of the nfl in recent memory??? ALOT
Anyway im done beating a dead horse with this topic.

As a Hawk fan im excited Hass will play because he gives us the best chance to win.  This also is likely his final home game as a Hawk and it will be nice to send him out with a playoff appearance for all he has given the franchise.

i dont think it matters too much who is in seattles backfield.problem is there will be more defensive rams players to join them. i am a longtime true seahawk fan but its actually more of a relief with hasselbeck in there then whitehurst because of the experience factor. this is hasselbecks team and its his last shot,so why not hasselbeck to start?  is it really all of his fault with no o-line to protect him and a run offense ranked 32 out of 32 teams? whitehurst has had his chances to step up and basically did nothing except some garbage time plays which he was mediocre at best. for seattle and their seahawk fans, this sunday is santas way of extending the season for hawk fans durng the holiday season. its a playoff game no matter how one looks at it, and the hawks only chance is the 12th man and a great punter. pretty sad to say but true. GO HAWKS!!!!!

That's it, the Seahawks just gave the game away to the Rams even before playing them. The question shouldn't be if Hasselsucks will start but if he could end the game. One big hit and he is going to be out. I predict he will be out of the game before the end of the 1st qtr. I hope Seattle will come to the conclusion that Hasselsucks is done as their qb and stop dwelling of how good he was when he took the Seahawks to the SB, those days are long gone yrs ago.
