Sounds like Leslie Frazier finally got his meeting with Vikings owner Zygi Wilf. Minnesota’s interim head coach is hoping to become Minnesota’s 2011 head coach. According to Judd Zulgad of the Star Tribune, that could happen as soon as Sunday.

Zulgad says Wilf and Frazier have held serious discussions, and “it is believed Frazier could receive a contract in the neighborhood of three years. Wilf has declined interview requests in recent weeks to discuss the coaching situation.”

The Vikings were 3-7 when Frazier took over. A win at Detroit would give them a 4-2 record under the former defensive coordinator.

Honestly, what is racist about his comment? All that he said is true. A coach is either good or bad depending on tthe number of wins and champipnships that he has, not his skin color, nationality, religious beliefs, etc. Frazier seems like a good canditate to hire, so congratuations to him. So many people these days use so called prejudice as an excuse to fail. Do not get me wrong, prejudice does exist, it is used by minorities and caucasion people both, and will probably always exist to some extent forever, but it is not as strong as when I was a youngster,so many years ago. I was around when the schools were intergrated dowm South, and we survived it, actually became better people by the change. Either way, good luck to Mr. Frazier in the future.

Would be a great move for the Vikings, he has definitely earned the right to be given the job on a parmanent basis. Now if only Jerry Jones would do the same, perhaps the "Rooney Rule" is holding him back.
I think the Rooney rule should only come into play when a fresh coach is being hired like Carolina will do or when the interim coach will clearly not be made permanent and not if an interim coach is being made permanent. Overall I think it is a useless rule, which is very easy to get around.

Dear redman1971, i would not at all call your response racist, but i would call it uneducated.  the reason why there are TV stations, magazines etc. such as "BET", "ebony", "Apollo theatre", "Motown records"... is because of history.  Black/African American/Negro/Colored people had their history taken away from them, white people did not.  as a person of color with European, African and Native American roots, i've had the opportunity to compare and learn about these cultures.  when my generation and my parents generation grew up in high school, all we were taught was European history.  there were no historical studies in African and Native American studies.  the movement to regain a part of our heritage began in the 60's and 70's because people realized that it was wrong to have denied certain ethnic populations of their history and genealogy.  places such as NYC's Apollo theatre came about as a place for Negro/black musicians to perform because they were not allowed to perform in white owned establishments in the 30's-40's and 50's.  the white owned record companies would not record their music, so a guy named Berry Gordy started his own recording company in the early 60's called Motown which opened the door for people of color to promote their skills.  we all know about the Jackie Robinson story and what Rosa Parks and MLK did.  it would be really great not to have some of these things like BET TV, Black History Month, United Negro College Fund... but obviously we are not there yet and everyone still in 2011 DOES NOT have the equal opportunity to excel, so establishments such as NFL have required teams to at least consider interviewing a person of color so that we can get out of that 30's-40's-50's mentality.  It is not perfect, but it is better than what was.  the Governor of South Carolina just reminded us of just how far we still have to go before the color of someone's skin is not a factor in our daily lives.  hope this helps.

As for Leslie Frazier, his 3-2 record isn't bad.  It looks like he has already affected the culture of his vocation with his teams performance against the Eagles.  He either showed NFC playoff teams a secret to game planning against the leagues most dangerous player(s) or he showed Andy Reid what to look out for during his latest climb for supremacy.  The protege got the better of the mentor in that case considering Fraziers tenure with the Eagles in years past.  It's hard to tell when a great football mind has come of age, but it may be a worthy risk for Minnesota to go on with this guy.  Ultimately the opinion of Vikings fans is what matters to most and fans should like this guy from how it all appears so far.

Oh, guess this rule was fairly recent(2003). Yea they should just trash it...

Every other channel on TV is white extertainment! come on please think, the majority in the country in white why would they need to have a specific channel when they run it?!!
you won't find a Canadian channel in Canada!

If they would get rid of channels like black entertainment then it would be easier to ignore the race thing and see everyone as people.

Not that it is a big deal, the Rooney rule shouldn't exist anymore. There are plenty of black coaches throughout the league now. In its time, it probably was a good thing. If the cowboys want to keep jason garrett, why should they have to intervie a miniorty while the vikings don't have to for frazier?

What I am about to say may be construed as racist but if you look at it what I am about to say is very truthful. Most of the racism still alive and well in todays society is there because the black population wants it to be. Think about it, if there was a channel on tv that was just for whites and called WET(white entertainment television) is would be called racist and taken off the air. But there is the BET network. There is a black history month but if there was a proposal for a white history month it wouldnt be allowed. How about a caucasian college fund??? Wouldn't be allowed. Now myself I was raised to view all people by what makes them an individual. I do not judge a person by their skin color, sexual preference, religion(even tho thats becoming harder these days since 9/11) or if they have a phsyical or mental handicap. I believe the Rooney rule is racist in its own sense. A coach is a coach regaurdless of he hertitage or ethnical background and to say anything else is proposterous. This day and age to say the the Vikings need to interview a coach becuase he is white, black, latino, asian or any other walk of life is proposterous. Leslie Frazier is a qualified man for the job and has proven that he can get the job done. Is it becuase of his skin color?????? NO It is because he is a good coach that gets the respect of the players around him. Just like when he was a player the others around him respected him and his abilities/ If the Vikings owner doesn't want to interview another canidate then he shouldn't have to reguardless of his choices skin color. The NFL may say that a team has to interview this person or that person but the fact remains the owner of the team will hire th person they want reguardless of who else they interview.
