Lechler is not happy with Raiders organization

Al Davis' decision not to pick up Tom Cable's option was not seen well by Oakland P S. Lechler (US Presswire). Posted by Josh Katzowitz

On Tuesday, we told you about the, um, interesting decision by owner Al Davis not to renew the option of Raiders coach Tom Cable, casting him into unemployment instead of rewarding him for the team’s best record in eight seasons and a clean sweep of the AFC West.

Now, the fallout begins.

Oakland punter Shane Lechler told CSN Bay Area (via Pro Football Talk) that the decision was a “huge setback” and intimated that it might cause the team’s best players to not want to play for the organization.

“I’m not so sure this isn’t a terrible decision,” Lechler said.

A few other spicy quotes.

On Hue Jackson, the team’s offensive coordinator who now could be in line for Cable’s old job: “Yes, I do respect (Jackson) … Whether he can call plays and pull off the whole head coaching deal and deal with Al Davis on the side, I don’t know.  That’s a lot on somebody’s plate, so we’ll see.”

More on Cable: “I just want to know . . . how do you justify firing somebody when you just went 6-0 in the division and 8-8 in the season after we put in so much as a group, as a unit, as a team with our leader being Tom Cable, how do you just go ahead and whack this guy with, I mean, no reason?”

If anybody can say this in the Raiders organization, it’s Lechler. He’s regarded as the NFL’s finest punter, and if Davis wants to part ways with him because of the above comments, Lechler would have no problem finding a job in the NFL. Hell, maybe that’s exactly Lechler’s plan.

Maybe Lechler’s not just pissed, but maybe he’s also quite brilliant.

And as we all know, pissed and brilliant is a dangerous combination.

Lechler is not happy with Raiders organization

I am not an Oakland fan, not my team, but I did happen to catch a handful of their games this year and by mid-year they started to look like a pretty good team.  By years end they looked like an up and coming team, one that would have a chance at taking the next step next year.
Any way you look at them, as a team, they improved from last year in almost every facet of the game.  For a team that is fighting to get its identity back and become relevant again, is that not what you want to see?  Progress, a team moving in the right direction?  And if you are moving the right direction usually you reward the coach who is leading your team.  Makes sense here on earth but not in what ever world Al Davis is currently living on.
How do you fire the guy who got you back to .500 and led you to an undefeated record in the division?  Crazy.

Lechler is not happy with Raiders organization

RobOakland, you're team is shitty, your owner is a senile, doddering old ass who will drop any second now, you root for a team that has more losses over the past ten years than anyone but Detroit and Cleveland, you slam Lechler but you're crowing about Al Davis?  We now have the hands-down winner of the Biggest Idiot.

Lechler is not happy with Raiders organization

Just like how the problems in Dallas revolves around Jerry Jones as being owner, the same can be said with Al Davis running the Radiers organization.  Both individuals are filled with ego and pride and thus, will only seek what THEY feel is best for the team.

Lechler is not happy with Raiders organization

ITS about time somebody said something......al davis has lost his mind look at him look like he just had his ass checked at the doctors.....and liked it. What a horrible decision he made Cable turned this team around not  hugh jackson....he wasnt even the offensive cordinator in baltimore for cryout loud....Mcfadden finally lived up to the hype thats whythe offensive turned around the O line was coached by.....Cable.
They were so close from being a great team.....a couple more pieces like a right tackle....and a shut down corner and this team makes the playoffs next year.

The Raiders were a bunch of misfits until cable turned it around.....but of course Davis wants the credit..... the  senile  bastard

Come on Al, cut him loose. We could use a great punter in Pittsburgh.
