It sounds like Jim Mora could be the next defensive coordinator for the Eagles.

After Will wrote about coach Andy Reid firing former coordinator Sean McDermott, the Philadelphia Daily News is reporting that Reid and Mora have spoken about the vacancy.

Mora – who’s been working at the NFL Network this season – apparently would be interested in the job, but it has not been offered yet.

Report: Mora a candidate for Eagles DC job

"He's been a successful D-Coordinator and Head Coach at the NFL level"
bossman, are you serious?  Jim Mora has had ONE winning season in the NFL as a Head Coach and that was with somebody else's squad.  Remember he stepped in to take over for Dan Reeves and after one season, the team went in the tank.

Do we really want to look at Jim Mora as a Defensive Coordinator, too?
     1999 D-Coordinator in S.F. -- 30th of 31 in scoring defense/28th in yards allowed
     2000 D-Coordinator in S.F. -- 28th of 31 in scoring defense/29th in yards allowed
     2001 D-Coordinator in S.F. -- 9th of 31 in scoring defense/13th in yards allowed
     2002 D-Coordinator in S.F. -- 18th of 32 in scoring defense/14th in yards allowed
     2003 D-Coordinator in S.F. -- 21st of 32 in scoring defense/13th in yards allowed
There is absolutely nothing in these numbers that point to Mora knowing how to build a strong defense.  At best, his defensive squads were in the middle third of the NFL.  Is that what you want running your team on that side of the ball?  In all but one season, his defenses were in the bottom half of the league.  You should be able to get better than that by accident by keeping McDermott around.

The coach you need as D-Coordinator is already on the staff-- Dick Jauron.  He knows the players and has far more experience in coaching up defenses.

Jim Mora Jr is an excellent candidate and the Eagles would do well to bring him on board. He has the combination of strategic knowledge and energy the Eagles defense lacked this past season. He's been a successful D-Coordinator and Head Coach at the NFL level and his commentary on the NFL Network showed as further proof of his ability to break down a situation effectively and provide "on point" analysis.Plus, he's much younger than 75 which is a plus. Just saying.........

Neither. Jim E. Mora is the father and Jim L. Mora is the son. Aside from the name confusion it's quite obvious that the report was about the son. The father is 75 years old. Do you know of any coaches in the NFL that are over 70? I didn't think so....
